It definitely is a book for beginners!0
The media could not be loaded. I haven’t made anything from this book yet. This is a diet that my doctor wants to put me on because it should help with inflammation the recipes in it. Most of them sound absolutely delicious and I don’t feel like I’m gonna be starving myself. I love how it has the nutritional content at the bottom, however, if you’re looking for a cookbook that has lots of pictures this one’s not for you but let’s be honest you don’t eat the pictures ! I also like how it has the planner at the end of the book on what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a snack if you stick to the measurements and if you stick to the plan, then you will be receiving the proper amount of calories that you should intake in a day and it’ll cover protein intake for the day !

Some of the recipes seem good, but…
I’ve tried a couple of recipes already, and I’m getting some good ideas for cooking, but there are some really odd things about this book… First, it really needs an editor. It looks like it was self-published. Starting with the major typo on the front cover (look for it; you’ll find it), and throughout the whole book, things look like they’ve been translated (badly) from another language (”cook within 7 hours,” etc). And the written words on the inside, at the end of the book, make no sense at all; it looks like a cut and paste job by someone who does not speak English, and, in a convoluted way, it says that a Mediterranean diet is unhealthy. Also, it says it’s by someone named Eric Poole, with a link to a bio that says that he is a barbecue pro… Not quite clear what he knows about Mediterranean cooking and/or if he even has anything to do with this book, but there are enough recipes for beef dishes and things like creamed corn made with cream cheese and butter to make me wonder if “Mediterranean Diet” was just an afterthought for the cover. It’s also very heavy on slow cooker recipes, so if you have a slow cooker like I happen to, you might find some good recipes in it. If you don’t have a slow cooker, you’ll either want to go out and buy one or you won’t be able to cook a heavy percentage of the recipes. I am also noticing that this is coming up as “Amazon’s Choice for low salt diet cookbooks”. So I’m a little confused about what this book really is.Having said all that, I am finding some good recipes in it. I would not use it as a guide to starting a Mediterranean diet, but you might get some good ideas for cooking.

Not a 5 star book . . .
I returned this book because I expected 5 star and got what appears to be a self-published book that lacks an editor, recycles recipes, has an unintelligible "diet plan," a fancy cover, and zero pics. Cramming tons of recipes into one book does not make it worthwhile especially when more than a few are missing portions of the recipe. Information is inconsistent - sometimes calories, carbs, fat, protein, and fiber are listed. Sometimes some are listed. But based on the poor quality of the editing I would not rely on any of the info. Some instructions are, in the opinion of an experience cook, terrible. One such instruction is "On a piece of wax paper, stir the flour and salt to taste. Toss the beef with the flour and shake off any excess." I am trying to imagine how to toss 3 lbs of 2 inch chunks of boneless beef chunk in wax paper. Also, for a beginner's cookbook, I would not expect to see "stir the flour and salt to taste." Does the author mean to stir the flour, and salt to taste? or to stir the flour and salt to taste. Further this is one of the best selling low sodium cookbooks with flour and salt to taste? Newbie cooks will probably way oversalt the food and make a huge mess trying to toss 3 lbs of beef coated in flour by using waxed paper. Ultimately, a cookbook is a how-to book and an instructional guide to the Mediterranean diet should be full of useful info. This book has neither of those qualities - or not enough of them to make it a worthwhile book.

Very low quality cookbook
(1) The book is self-published. This may or may not be relevant to the prospective buyer's purchase decision, but certainly it is something to consider.(2) The book is full of typos, including a very obvious one on the front cover.(3) The book's production values are low.(4) There is no proper index of recipes. At the back of the book is a list of recipes in the order they appear in the book. There is no alphabetical list of recipes by name or main ingredient.(5) In the section on main dishes, the vast majority indicate a prep time of 15 minutes. Looking at the ingredients lists and the prep directions, in most cases, 15 minutes is a very significant under-estimate. Furthermore, if every recipe in the section has the same prep time, the 15 minute figure cannot be used for reliable preparation planning.(6) There are no photos of the prepared recipes, The paper is not suitable for photos (the paper is not glossy or even smooth).(7) Given the book's quality issues, I did not prepare any recipes from this book.(8) Giving the book and its author the the maximum benefit of the doubt, perhaps all the five star ratings were from a previous edition of the book? All I know is that the book I received was as I described above.

It would be a 5 star if the editing was better
The recipes in here are very good for the most part. The editing on the other hand is really terrible. Some of the directions are filled with sentences that don't make sense because the wording is wrong. Also it lacks amounts for certain ingredients, and in many recipes it says "herbs" but what "herbs" is the author talking talking about. The good thing is I know how to cook and be creative with recipes. In other words I look at what is in the recipe and I make it my own. I can recommend this book to a couple of my kids because they know how to cook and make things right for their families.

Great recipes but major flaw in presentation
The recipes are great if you can find them. The index is by recipe number under general headings like main, salads, .... if you want to find the recipe again, it's very difficult as there is no alpha index.

Disappointing
Colour photographs of the meals would help, as there is no inspiration to make any of the meals
