MiiCoffee Espresso Coffee Tamper 58.5mm, Level Coffee Tamper for 58mm Portafilter, Adjustable Depth Stainless Steel Ripple Base

The product is well made and a great value. I was on the fence about 4-5 stars. Here are my thoughts: Pros: - The finish is very good. The tamper is well made, attractive, and nice to use. - The dimensions are very accurate. The diameter is indeed 58.5mm and it fits nicely in my Gaggia double basket. - Everything works properly and feels good (setting depth, plunging the tamper, etc.) Cons: - There is a spring, but that spring adds resistance to you pushing the tamper against the portafilter (it does not have anything to do with how hard you are tamping the grounds). - I find that the ringed surface can 'tear out' patches of grounds sometimes when I remove it. This may come down to technique, but I have never had this problem with a flat bottom tamper. The fact that you cannot twist the tamper before you remove it may also contribute to this issue.

I was previously using just the basic tamper that came with the machine, which was basically a plastic circle with a handle. This tamper feels like a massive upgrade in comparison. It's pretty heavy and just feels like a quality item. The depth setting has a satisfying click to indicate the change, and the pattern on the bottom makes it easy to tell if you have the right depth. It's also super easy to use. The tamp is now consistent with a single press, and the puck after use doesn't show any signs of channeling. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Very nice tamper, heavy and constructed out of quality materials. My reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that it does not set to true zero. You start out at 4 mm and that is that. I kept it regardless as it is a pleasure to use and properly sized.

The end result is a nicely tamped coffee puck that will not drop out of your holder if you turn the holder upside down; not that you’d do this other than testing. You twist the holder to determine how far down the tamper will go. It has graduated markings so you can be consistent. There is not a manual which would have been nice to have; maybe they have an online manual, not sure. I find number 7 is a good spot but I continue to test. This is a sturdy tamper with a good weight (356g). It is spring loaded but DOES NOT snap down into the coffee.

Works as it should.

This is a leveler tamper, meaning you'll always have a flat coffee bed. But it is not spring tamper. So it means the pressure on the coffee bed could be different every time, based on how hard you push it down. I was not able to push it consustent enough like I do with a spring loaded tamper. Also could not turn it a bit after tamping. Fits only if you like its simplicity and looks, and able to tamp consustenly enough like with a manual tamper. Worth the price of 25$ since good manual tamper costs the same.

I really like me coffee to make some great stuff. Wanna try it one of the grinders!!! For 20 bucks is hands-down one of the best tampers you can get. I love the fact that there’s a gauge on it that it’s consistent with the spring and that it has leveling. Build right in love this thing so happy I got it.

Great option for the price - consistent and level tamps. It's seems pretty well built and has some heft to it. The price was a fraction of what my previous manual tamper cost, so no complaints.

The product came in good packaging, is sturdy and has good weight.

Im loving this Coffee tamper, its giving me precise tamp pressure. The only thing that could be better is numbers on top with an arrow, or a way to lock in the setting. But still an Awsome product
