A generally expensive but poor quality plug tray
I have used plug trays a lot over the years. I tried these Nutley trays mainly because I could get them very quickly from Amazon. However, the individual cells are too shallow and taper too quickly. This might reduce compost use, but does little for plant health. Overall, they are a poor substitute for the Garland plug trays I have used in the past, as well as being considerably more expensive.

Excellent Module Trays
I bought these because they have a large number of cells but the overall tray size is not too big. My existing cell trays had larger cells, so they took up too much space and I couldn’t grow as much as I wanted to. These cell trays are perfectly sized for me.They feel pretty sturdy. I want my cell trays to be built like a tank, which is not a reasonable expectation, but they don’t feel like they will fall apart after just one season. They are not exactly cheap, but for me the cost is definitely worth it for being able to produce more seedlings in the space I have.So far I have grown salad leaf seedlings in them. I was really pleased at how a little poke through the hole in the bottom of each cell produced a nice firm plug plant. I then just needed to poke a hole in the soil with my fingers, pop the seedling in, and firm it down. With my existing larger cells trays, it was generally quite an effort to poke the seedlings out via their three holes, the plug would fall apart and roots would get disturbed, and the whole process would generally take a lot longer.I would definitely recommend these!

Fine but flimsy
Extremely thin plastic, much thinner than other seed trays I own which I can stand on without breaking. Definitely don’t try standing in these. Also the hole at the bottom is too small to push the plug out with your finger when you’re ready to plant. Not all module trays are built equal it seems!

Large capacity seed tray
Subsequently bought same trays for half the price. Trays are fairly sturdy if treated carefully. It is a pity they are not made of a slightly heavier plastic and they would then be really long lasting. After developing, seed plugs can be removed carefully by gently pushing up with a pencil or similar item. Pushing the plugs out with a finger damages the cell. I have already used mine 2-3 times this season and as said they should last a few years if used with care

Appear much superior to the Nutley’s 60-cell
One piece, sturdy formed plastic which appears not to flex under the weight of being filled with compost. I have much greater confidence in seasonal reuse of this cell tray. I have also purchased Nutley’s 60-cell, which by comparison are much thinner.Perhaps this information is in the description - however, I couldn’t elucidate or determine the thickness of either product prior to purchase.104 greater than 60.
