Fantastic! Charming and Fun Stories Celebrating and Encouraging Creativity
This is a great collection of three charming and fun stories celebrating and encouraging creativity and “thinking outside the box”: The Dot, Ish and Sky Color. My young nieces recommended these when we were discussing favorite books, and they have become favorites of mine as well. I have pulled them out more than once just to give myself a reminder of why I love art as well as a big boost of cheer. They are a wonderful representation of both the frustrations of things not turning out the way you think they should and the joys of realizing they don’t need to, you can follow your idea and see what happens. I am an artist myself and love the art and design of illustrated books. Even though I don’t have kids of my own, I always have a few children’s books on my phone and iPad for inspiration. They have come in handy often at family gatherings and outings where an unexpected wait popped up, and as a bonus I get to be the cool aunt!

Positive Messages about Creativity
These books are amazing. They're great books about being creative and avoiding the trap of perfectionism. They really capture how important it is to embrace the uniqueness of each individual's creative process. This message is especially important for kids growing up in the age of social media where it is easy to see their own work/ideas as being flawed just because they dont conform to what they see people posting. These books encourage kids (and adults) to accept that the creative process is all about exploring and not being discouraged by negative feedback from others or from oneself. As an artist (who has spent years nitpicking their own work) these books were a powerful reminder to embrace imperfection and to see art as a journey. They do a really wonderful job conveying the principles behind adages like "the perfect is the enemy of the good" and "excellence is not an act, but a habit". Love, love, love.

Wonderful Books
A solid 5 star review speaks for itself.I loved The Dot so (based on reviews) purchased this set for my son’s 6th birthday. I adore these books and one if not all the make it into our weekly nighttime book rotation. When we were visiting family we bright them along and my son read them as bedtime to his cousins!! (How cute is that?!) The books were a hit- we’re purchasing the set as holiday gifts for all the cousins this year!Wonderful artwork and the author does a wonderful job showing how to reframe thinking.

Fantastic Book Collection (3 Books) for my 6 year old
These three books are wonderful. It is a picture book series (award-winning) aimed at 5-7 year olds. Each story is different and each inspires imagination and creativity in an enjoyable and delightfully surprising way. Ish is about a boy who loves drawing but whose brother makes fun of his drawing skills. At first the boy is depressed and gives up drawing, yet something then inspires him to get back to it, knowing that while his pictures aren't perfect, they are perfect-ish enough to continue. The Dot is about a girl who can't even draw a straight line, but her teacher slyly motivates her to give it her best shot and practice, which produces terrific results and gives the girl a chance to inspire others as well. Sky Color is about a girl (I believe it is the sister of the boy from Ish) who loves to paint but faces a challenge when she needs to paint a mural of the sky and has no blue paint. She ifnds inspiration in nature and comes up with a clever solution that her classmates marvel at. I found these all to be wonderfully written with a great message. The Dot was our favorite. If you like these books, also check out a similar book called ART by Patrick McDonnell, which we discovered a few years ago--it is great too.

The dot les gustó. Mejor leerlas en inglés que en español, desde luego.

Beautiful & Touching
Hi,reading this to my 4 year old daughter as a bed time story. Really inspiring and she loves to follow the concepts. It shows children that art is more than just photo realistic copies of the world. Some kinks in the kindle version, but very enjoyable.

Highly recommended for the artist in all of us!
I can't say enough good things about this series. Absolutely fantasic! My 4.5 year old daughter loves art, so I really wanted to help inspire her to be creative and not worry when she makes "mistakes" as she perceives them. She seemed to really get the message of these books as we would talk about them together after reading.

Perfection
All children need to be exposed to the possibilities of creativity. These books are all super examples of how to show your children the power of creativity and imagination. They remind everyone that it is okay to make mistakes, it is important to put aside self-doubt, and it is inspirational to see things in a different light and bring that light to the people around you!
