Doesn't do well in cold winter weather
I bought three of these to replace existing lights of the same make and model that were 9 years old. The metal fixtures of the existing lights were splitting. Knowing what I know now, I would look for something more durable. If you live in a warmer climate with little precipitation or wind, these will be fine. They are very attractive and distinctive.

Terrific in California
I was surprised to read the negative reviews. I had my back garden re-done and was searching everywhere to find this lamp again. We've had many of these lamps in our garden in the Bay Area (near San Francisco) since 1998, and they have been wonderful. The finish has "aged" with time, and the white plastic cover over the light has yellowed but the lamp is still attractive. We haven't changed the bulbs in that time either! The lamp casts a very nice light. The bulb manufacturer claims that the bulbs last 5 1/2 years when used 3 hours/day. Since we just turn on the lamps every few days, the bulb life has far exceeded that. I'm planning to put in another set of these lanterns--all new--because our garden has been disrupted by a major remodel, and I feel that, despite the fact that these lamps are still going strong after 17 years, I want to put in brand-new fixtures with completely fresh finish. I'd guess that most path lights might look a little worn after 17 years, so I'm not complaining. At any rate, I'm guessing that perhaps areas with harsher climates are more challenging for the finish, but these lamps are dandy in California.

Overpriced
I was disappointed with this lantern. It is very expensive, the lightbulb is difficult to replace, and the long light stand is easily bent by pets or landscapers brushing aside it.

Flaking Finish & cracked - have had 3 sets of these. Repainted and they look great!
Unfortunately, i have to agree with the others who are dissatisfied with this "quality" product from Kichler. I have 8 of these along my brick walk. I got them in 1999. They have been REPLACED 2 TIMES since. Last time I replaced them was spring 2012. They are AGAIN flaking finish, several have large vertical cracks in the shade, and the wire things that hold the lens have come off and are lost. I cannot believe a company like Kichler that has a supposed "excellent" reputation for quality sells this JUNK! The only good thing I can say is that they effectively light the walkway and give a nice ambiance to the landscape, unlike those cheapo "runway" lights everyone uses. I wanted something different that was quality and looked great. I would NEVER buy these again. Wayyyy tooo much money for the poor finish quality. save your money and buy something else.Sooo. on a beautiful late spring day of 2020, I decided to change the color of these lights. I bought a couple cans of rust oleum satin black spray paint. I left the lights in place and hooked up. I removed the white lens and wire keepers. Each light was steel wooded lightly, anything flaking removed, then wiped off and sprayed with a degreaser brake cleaner. I sprayed them black, except for the inside of the shade, which I protected with a small piece of cardboard while spraying. They really look terrific. It’s now three years later and they look like they were just painted. Happy!

Expensive price, cheaply made
I can't believe that these lights are still on the market. Our landscaper selected them for us when we had our garden remodel done about 10 years ago. They were expensive relative to other options but they looked classy in the brochure and looked nice when installed. In reality they are shoddily constructed - flaking paint, inconsistent color and finish, shades that crack, weak bases, etc.In addition to those frustrations they have a number of what I would consider major flaws:1) The lights burn so hot that they blacken/melt the internals of the light bulb socket. This causes the bulb to have a very loose connection and the presence of any water (overspray or rain) causes the bulbs to short out.2) The plastic light covers badly discolor over time and the heat from the bulb can even melt them.3) The two metal 'arcs' that support the light cover are flimsy and have a proclivity to fall out and disappear into the shrubbery, leaves etc.4) Which leads me to what I consider to be their biggest flaw and the reason that I am writing this review...these are $200+ lights that have a number of parts that can fall off, discolor, break and otherwise require minor repairs. I understand that things age but when contacted the company I discovered that they do not supply ANY replacement parts AT ALL.As I'm throwing 18 of these lights into our recycle bin I wanted to share my experience. Buyer beware!

Poorly designed product.
The wires that hold the light cover are popping off in the wind and get lost in the landscape. After a few years the paint has started flaking off. I would never buy this product again and will have to replace the existing set. I hope to use another brand for that project.

Broken
I have quite a few of these along my two outdoor paths. They are on the inside edge of concrete walkways, so there's no mowing around them or other rough treatment, but most of them are broken where the lamp attaches to the post. I spent a lot of money getting them wired in, and I'm really disappointed that I'll have to pay to have something else put in if I want to replace them. Not recommended.
