Excellent book - good text, good pics
Accompanies current exhibition at the Tate in London. Absorbing and insightful, and of course beautiful and engaging works from Paul Rego, all nicely put together and well thought out.

A book of superb images but…
I just struggle with the accompanying text.Elena Crippa tells us in her first paragraph and talking about Rego’s work ‘interrogation’ that the woman is flanked by two men. One holds a screwdriver the other a drill. Clearly Crippa can see something that I can’t. I think she is identifying the chair back as a screwdriver and as for the other paint being a drill - a cordless drill maybe? Then there are the bulging crotches of the tradesmen. Surely that is just the cut of the trousers. A portly stomach maybe but nothing more. A little over enthusiastic interpretation I feel.
