There were html codes where there should have been inverted commas. Sentences run into each other. Good yarn though!4*

Unholy Ghosts
Deaconess Theodora Braithwaite is taking a much needed break from her hectic job as a curate in one of London's poorer parishes. She is house sitting in Norfolk but when Hereward Marr, a local clergyman, is found dead she is unwillingly manipulated into helping with the investigation because she knows his wife slightly and it seems Amy has disappeared.I liked the plot of this interesting clerical mystery and I thought the portrait of a small Norfolk village was very well done. Norfolk is, or was when this was written, very much like it is portrayed here. I lived in Norfolk for more than twenty years and I felt the author made it come alive. Feuds and allegiances are carried on very much based on class with everyone knowing their place in the hierarchy.I loved the picture the author paints of the Church of England's activities too. Theodora is a likeable character and I could feel her irritation as her holiday was interrupted and then watched that irritation gradually disappear as her curiosity was aroused. I thought the character of Inspector Spruce was well done and I liked the way he does his best to understand the goings on in the Church. If you like cosy mysteries with a village setting and a small cast of characters then you may enjoy this series. They can be read in any order and this is number two in the series.

Proof reading
I enjoyed the book very much - but ...... Does no one proof read Kindle versions? It was irritating to have so many typographical errors (I suppose that's what they are?). Also too many cases of one parargraph following another without any space whereas in the print version there would be a gap to show that there was a 'change of scene'. It's not as though this was a 99p offer! For over Β£5 one could reasonably expect a professional product. So no complaints about what the author wrote --- but disappointment with the way it is presented via Kindle.

Boring
This is such a boring book I canβt be bothered to finish reading it. I donβt care who the murderer is

A Grave Read.
An absolute delight to read. Sorry that I have no more to look forward to - I've read the lot. D.M. Greenwood has a clear eye for the foibles and idiosyncracies of the Church. She is amusing and profound at the same time; even the titles engage us with their humour. I suggest them for anyone who is finding church life depressing.

Who charged me for THIS?
I wasn't too struck on the book itself - there seemed to me to be a certain slackness in the plotting and a certain amount of knee-jerk 'all aristocrats are really aristo-crap' (although in fairness a friend of mine did tell me later that Norfolk remains very feudal). My real objection is that no-one at the publishers can possibly have made any attempt to read this book on an e-reader - and mine is a Kindle, so should have no compatibility issues. The book is littered with errors - places where the publisher's mark-up codes have been left in, places where capital letter have been left out entirely, spacing errors where a full stop.is followed immediately by the next word (with or without a capital letter). In addition, in places where the story arc changes, there is no spacing to alert you to the change so your brain is completely derailed. I like doing crossword puzzles, but not when I am trying to read a novel, albeit in e-book form.Very poor marks indeed.
