Hack away
I have owned this blade for about 2.5 years. I abuse the hell out of it, and it keeps going. I have left it outside more times than I can count in the rain, but a quick sanding and it is back in action. It took me forever to find a blade with this dimension. The length and weight are perfect for chopping down small trees and bushes. It easily clears 1.5 inch diameters with one hit, and I have used it as an axe to chop down trees up to 6 inches in diameter. I just cleared out about a 1/4 acre of brush and small trees in my back yard with only this blade.

Needs Improvement
On the ESSE's website, it states "90 Degree Spine For Ferro Rod Use" as part of the blade specs. The one I received has a flat spine but not sufficient edge for a ferro rod. If you want that feature, expect to clamp the blade in a vise and flat file the spine to get enough edge angle. It's also pricy for what you get. The wood handled version of this blade costs much less. You pay a lot more a micarta handle. Note the lanyard hole is small and sized for para cord diameter but nothing thicker.
