We love skimmy
We love this thing. It does exactly what I hoped it would - get rid of the gnats and tiny floaty things that make the surface icky. He just works away and makes the surface sparkly clean. Really easy to rinse the basket. He did get stuck on the intake, but the noodle solved that problem. Skimmy is an awesome helper keeping the pool nice.

This unit saved my 2023 Summer and my Wallet!
We have a 30FT in-ground Vinyl liner Oval pool which we have had for 30+ years. Last year I started to notice a loss of water and had a pool company come in and do their tests and they said my Skimmer line was leaking due to tree roots. To fix this would cost a couple thousand dollars to chop out the cement patio around the pool and run a new line to the filter. Also I was told the new cement would not match what we had. This year I opened the pool and the leak was much worse. I had to shut off the Skimmer line. I started looking for another option and found this Betta SE skimmer. I downloaded the manual, read the reviews and ordered the unit from Amazon. When the Skimmer arrived I put it in the pool and OMG it worked perfectly. NO complaints. It ran all day with minimal sun right out of the box. Love this device. Its not too heavy. I really researched this product and I would like to point out 2 quick observations. #1 I have read reviews where people are saying the skimmer lost debris when it backs up. I watched it back up multiple times on automatic and I did it myself with the remote on manual and no loss. The basket holds 3 times what my pool skimmer can hold. #2 people are saying that their Betta SE skimmer gets stuck on their robot vacuum line. Yes the manual tells you to pull out of the pool any other Pool device with a line hose. I have a Dolphin Nautilus Pool Vacuum that I have had since 2018 and yes I pull it out of the water after its finished. Not a big deal! Thank you Betta for saving me so much with this great product. Just hope it last like my Pool robot has. UPDATE August 16 2023 This skimmer is still working perfectly! I can't really express how pleased I am with this product. It picks up almost everything. Leaves, Pine needles, bugs, and anything that floats on the pool water and will fit in its wide mouth. Sun keeps it charged for a long time. I even run it all night sometimes and in the morning there it is still working with its blinking green eyes! UPDATE September 2023 What a great summer with this skimmer. Sometimes when the forecast said we would have a windy night with a pool surrounded by trees, I just let this skimmer run all night and the next morning pool was crystal.

Total Game-Changer. Wow.
My neighbor got one of these a year ago, but I was leery. I've seen, and been the victim of useless contraptions that never delivered when it came to pool skimming. I watched the reviews, did the research, and finally pulled the trigger. THIS WORKS. They finally figured it out & it more than exceeded expectations. I have a lot of vegetation in my back yard, the most annoying of which are three crepe myrtle trees that drop an endless supply of flowers into the pool. When they're in bloom, I had to skim EVERY day and they pool was never clean. This things takes care of all of it, not just some, all. I haven't skimmed one flower since I started using it. I can't get over it. Battery life has been superb. I'm in Southern California, so we get plenty of sun and this thing runs through the night, non-stop. It's very easy to turn on and off and empty the basket. A few tips: - I use the included foam piece to wedge in my wall skimmer to prevent it from sucking and holding the unit. - If you have a vacuum hose that tends to sit on the surface, invest in some weights. I used these: https://www.amazon.com/Nayciiy-Universal-Universally-Compatible-krauly%EF%BC%88Blue%EF%BC%89/dp/B0CDP5MPP2?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 - I pushed the bumpers all the way into the unit so if it does go over the hose, it's less likely to get stuck. - If you have a floating thermometer, consider taking it out so the unit doesn't drag it around.

Works precisely and effectively!
Effortless and 100% effective! Very simple, easy to use, and takes all the back breaking work of ancient history skimming with net and pole. Leaves the pool sparkling clean! Lightweight and easy to pull out of pool to remove basket. Highly recommended for any pool to save some pool maintenance time.

Saves time and effort
I got this pool robot because my skimmers really couldn't keep up with the amount of bugs, pollen, petals, etc. that was hitting the pool, and I was using a net to skim stuff every day. I have an average sized in-ground pool and this little blue marvel keeps the surface crystal clear. I've been running it every day for about 6 weeks now. Disclaimer: my Betta hasn't dealt with fall leaves yet. Not sure what to expect with the trees dump, but the basket is fairly large and the Betta handles the occasional leaf very easily. The Power: Battery charge seems consistent so far. I try not to run it at night because it need the sun to charge, but I have accidentally left it running all night a few times and it's still skimming along the next morning, so there's enough charge to get it through. I think the manual says 30 hours. Curiously, there doesn't seem to be a way to charge the battery with a cable - directions say to leave it running in the sun to charge. Maybe this will be a drawback as the battery ages? I'm not sure what to expect. Great Coverage: Much like an in-home vacuum robot, this thing runs random patterns, backs up randomly to turn from time to time, and slows/turns as it senses the sides, avoiding hard collisions. About Obstacles: OK, if like most of us you run a Polaris type cleaner, the floating hose will be an obstacle for your Betta. Sometimes the robot will skim over it; sometimes it gets hung up and has to back up and turn. Not the end of the world, but I find that the Betta does a more thorough job without that white hose in the way. Also, if you have small floating objects -thermometer, small toys, chlorine dispenser, etc., Betta will find these and try to sweep them. This can be a problem, as the paddle wheel will grind on them, potentially causing harm to the robot. Just have to plan for this and not leave small things floating. I did work around it by placing my chlorine floater inside an inflatable ring, thus protecting it from the paddle wheel in the Betta. The Cleanup: It's super easy to lift out the basket and rinse it out. Consider that you'll need to clean it out probably every day, so the Betta does add another step to your pool maintenance routine. Every evening I pull it out, turn it off, and clean the basket. Personally, that's a small trade-off for the time I was spending with the skim net. Other considerations: This robot is obviously made of plastic and might not last forever. I'm curious about durabilty of the plastic parts, especially in the sun/chlorine environment. Time will tell. Overall, totally worthwhile so far.

Does an amazing job, when it stays charged.
I've had this robot for 3 months now. I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger. Overall, this model seemed to be the best fit for performance and cost. My pool is partly shaded or more according to the time of year, but based on the description it would charge regardless. First impressions: it is a well packaged, well built, and included instructions that are easily understood. It has a large collection basket and begin working the moment I turned it on. The manual does state that the unit must be "on" to charge, and there is no way to charge it other than the solar panel. This is the only negative about this robot which has shown to be quite annoying now that the days are shorter and I am not getting as much direct sunlight. A couple rainy/ cloudy days in a row will have the same effect. This is also the time of year that more leaves are falling I need this thing to work the majority of the day. During the longer summer days with more overhead sun, it could run all day and night. It would be blinking red by the next morning, indicating a low charge, but would recover once the sun came out. Now it doesnt even make it thru the day, and by night it goes into sleep mode when the battery is too low. I have tried placing it in the sun (with the switch on) to help it. But the fact that it has to be running (motors and lights) to charge seems counter-productive. My opinion after using it for 3 months in various weather and sunlight is this is a good unit that needs some improvements to make it great. It needs either a second charging port or a "solar charge only" mode that does not require the unit to be running to charge. If you have full sun year round, you should have no problem. If you are even partially shaded, you may experience problems with battery life when you need it the most. But overall, when it works it works. This thing has saved me from a lot of pool cleaning and maintanence. Also keeps my strainers from constanly filling with debris and bugs. To avoid fighting the leaves and battery life, I'll just cover my pool for the off season.

Way cheaper than a pool screen!
I am not someone who typically writes product reviews - but i absolutely LOVE this thing. I have large oak trees over my pool and leaves were always dropping causing a need for constant cleaning. The robot does an amazing job! I sometimes will need to empty the basket 3 or 4 times a day ( I have a LOT of leaves) but it is so much easier than doing it by hand. If you think it will traverse your pool back and forth like a roomba, it doesn't. It drives around like a drunk ships captain, but it somehow cleans the entire surface. I could not be happier with this and would buy it again tomorrow.

Worth the money and life is much easier
This skimmer is amazing! It's one of the best purchases I've made. My pool gets a lot of debris because our neighbor's trees are up against the wall, and sometimes the branches are over the property. It was getting exhausting having to manually skim almost every day. I was not able to keep up, especially when we get sandstorms. This skimmer can handle getting all the debris. The pool looks so much cleaner than before. I do have a pool suction cleaner, but it was still not enough for all the debris the pool gets. Now that I have both, it is so much better. I usually clean it once a week unless it is windy, and then I clean it the next day once the wind has calmed down. Some debris can get caught in the gear, but a metal pick and hook tool takes it right out. During the winter, the pool was not getting a lot of sun, so I had to turn it off and put it where it was getting more sun so it could charge. It is solar power, so it doesn't require charging from an outlet. Be aware that if your pool doesn't get a lot of sun, you will have to turn it off and let it charge in the sun. If your pool doesn't get a lot of sun, I don't recommend buying because it will be frustrating having to recharge in the sun often. It is not a "smart" skimmer, but it will eventually cover the whole pool. I thought I had made a mistake when I first bought it because it was taking its sweet time skimming the pool. However, it has done an incredible great job at keeping the surface clean. It has also helped to keep my pool filters cleaner longer because the pool suction cleaner doesn't have to handle all the debris. Most of the debris will float for a while before it sinks, so the skimmer can catch it. Sometimes, it can get stuck with the pool vacuum hose, but I let it be, and eventually, when the pool vacuum starts to move, the skimmer can move again.
