Close your eyes. Think “jeans.” Now open. They were 501s, right? With a classic straight leg and iconic styling, they’re literally the blueprint for every pair of jeans in existence — burned into the world’s collective cortex ever since Levi Strauss (the man himself!) invented them in 1873. To this day they’ve never gone out of style. And they never will.

Rigid, shrink to fit
This is a review of rigid, shrink to fit 501s. It may not apply to any other color/wash/iteration of 501s. These pants last as well as any jeans, better than most. You have to get them 2-3" long in the inseam and 1-2" wide in the waist. The more you use a dryer the more extra you need. The more shirt you tuck in the more waist you need. These are working jeans, buy them in the fall when you wear extra layers, and they will be smaller by summer, ready to wear with a t-shirt. If you don't follow this advice, you will think the fit is too small.

Real Levi's 501 Quality. Still the Best Value and Personal Fit in denim.
These are REAL Levi's 501s. I don't know what all the griping is about from the highest viewed review dated 2020. It's 2023 people. These 501s are coming direct from Levi Strauss & Co. through Amazon. They aren't knock offs, fakes, or counterfeit 501s. I got mine and they have all the button stamps ink stamps, and codes that Levi's have always had through the years. I've been wearing Levis for 50+ years, so I have a little experience. I've tried all the other jean brands, and even the high end jeans, and even the brands inspired by Levi's, and still keep coming back to Levi's 501 STF. The 501 STF is still the benchmark for rugged denim that shrinks to perfectly fit your body. I'm 5'11 185 lbs. I order W35 L36. After FOLLOWing THE INSTRUCTIONS - wear them in the tub on a hot day, then go out and do some ranch or yard work. Let them dry and shrink to fit your body. After a few wear and cold washing cycles, they shrink down to W34 L32-33 depending on how warm you dry 'em. They'll still fit over western boots, too. If you like your denim stiff and raw, order your actual size. Although, I've yet to meet someone who actually does this. Seems that it would be a little uncomfortable. Some reviewers say they aren't the same 501 as they were decades ago. Question for them...What these days is the same as it was decades ago? I can't think of much, including myself. And what's all the griping about where they're made? Yeah-Yeah, I'd love for them to still be made in the good 'ol USA, by USA workers, but that's not in the cards these days. Thank politicians and trade deals for that. The pairs I ordered were made in Egypt. I was curious, so I searched this out. Have you seen the online videos of this state of the art manufacturing facility? It's pretty impressive - with what appears to be modern equipment and high tech, good quality processes in place to ensure consistency. And what's not to love about Egyptian cotton? The 501's I have that are a few years old are now thick and soft - the product of washing them inside out and drying properly. This also ensures uniform fading of the denim so they will look great too.Bottom Line, if you want a pair of jeans that will fit you perfectly, and last years, I recommend going with the 501 Shrink to Fit (STF). If you don't want to invest the time to break them in and have a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly, you can buy the already pre-shrunk 501 versions. If the buttons bug you, go with the zippered 505s. The 505 is supposedly the same as the 501 but with a zipper. Although, I don't believe Levi's makes 505s in a STF version anymore.

Great jeans
These jeans are great, fit is perfect and very comfortable. I bought the 501 stonewashed regular fit and love them. Make sure you know that these are a button fly though, I believe people must return them because they don’t read the description.

Comfortable, fits great, cool color
The 501 Original Fit in All Wasabi (00501-3401) is a unique and interesting color choice for jeans. I've had Levi's 501 for decades and over the years have gone through the sizes from 28 through 42 and they've always felt right. I now have a large midsection so I size for my waist. I went with 42Wx30L for this pair and the fit is good. The pants measure just about 42.5" at the waist and are an exact fit for me. These have a 13.25" front rise which brings the pants waist to my actual waist which is how 501s are supposed to be worn. The inseam on this pair measures at 30.125" which brings the pants to a full break over my shoes. These 501s are a very comfortable fit for me. Because I sized for my waist they feel more like a relaxed/loose pair which is fine, though I have thick thighs from my gym days so above the knee these are comfortable but not baggy. I do also wear boots sometimes so the 9.125" leg opening is ok.I'm happy with these pants, they fit me fine and the color is different from others in my wardrobe. The waist and inseam sizing given by Levi's is pretty accurate. I think those complaining about sizing on these don't measure at their true waist and compare the size to other pants that are mid- or low- rise. 501s have a full rise and are worn at the waist. Measure yourself at that and you can get a good fit from Levi's.

Classic
These are classic Levi's jeans. Everything about them is just right. You will not find a better pair of jeans anywhere else. They fit perfectly with shoes, sneakers or boots. Sometimes I wear them with a belt, other times I don’t. They fit according to the sizing chart.
