Quiet, lowcost solution for re-using old hard-drives
The Yottamaster 4 Bay Hard Drive Enclosure is robust, well made and easy to use. I would have liked metal rather than plastic trays for the drives, but they work fine and locate the drives positively into the connectors. The enclosure's fan is quiet anda efficient. All in all a very fine piese of kit. A very good buy.

Brilliant
Incredible value. Quiet, seems well made. I've only got a single 16TB drive in there at the moment, and have written about 2.5TB at a consistent 160-170MB/s write.

Good - But Could Be Better
I came to this product in frustration after bad experiences with Silverstone and IcyBox products. Silverstone did not allow software monitoring, whilst two IcyBox products failed to control temperature. The "Yottamaster" has proved excellent in its temperature control of the 3 x 5TB & 1 x 1TB drives currently installed. However, (a) Unless the box is placed directly in front of you, at eye height, it is nigh on impossible to see the LED's operating. (b) The On/Off switch is situated at the rear of the box which, as it is almost undetectable by touch, is probably not the most convenient place for it -- especially as there is no means for the box to synchronise with the PC. (c) The front door of the box, whilst being slightly spring-loaded, does not, in my opinion, open sufficiently far for full opening to be made easy. I think some form of handle or other opening aid would be an advantage. (d) The USB cable connector (box end) is quite a delicate fit. I find it falls out of the socket very easily. This unit does not provide a variable airflow to accommodate fluctuations in drive temperatures, which is a shame but, as has already been said, with the drive configuration currently installed, it does seem to cope very well. Unlike the Silverstone unit, this box does interface with monitoring software such as CrystalDiskInfo and SMARTactive. The fan sound can be heard but is not noisy at all. All in all, a good unit, but would benefit from some aesthetic improvements.

Not reliable
I've tried this device on a Linux and a W10 machine. It does not connect stably. The drives go off line randomly. Single or limited read-writes work, but if you set about copying a lot of data it simply does not. Copying stops and the drives drop off line.

Fantastic Unit
Bought this second unit to replace an Icybox enclosure that failed wiping the contents of all 4 drives, which took many hours to recover using Disk Drill. These Yottamaster enclosures are fantastic; they're easy to setup, quiet in operation and look good to, matching well with my iMac. Highly recommended.

Solid build, fan could be quieter, airflow/cooling is not the best, no APM passthrough
I like the design of this. It looks smart, has a compact footprint and seems like it would stack well. As I was testing the water before getting three more, this was important. It works... OK-ish. That's about the best I can say. There are few issues: - the fan is a bit noisy and cheap. I replaced it with a Noctua and it's much better. It's easy enough to do if you have the right star-head screwdriver, are confident at soldering and don't mind invalidating your warranty. (The fan has a non-standard fan connector.) - owing to the design of the grills and the offset nature of the fan, the airflow is not optimal. Some (identical) disks run hotter under load that others and generally about 10C hotter than in my larger RAID tower - The disks never spin down. Ever. All disk control messages that can be issued in Windows to spin down the disks do not work. - NO APM control - which means you can't even set the disks to spin down automatically themselves either If you want an "always on" solution, I'd give this a miss. Your disks will sit spinning forever getting hot. If you'll just turn it on when you need it and off again afterwards, then yeah, this is a perfectly nice little enclosure.

Yottamaster 4 Bay Hard Drive Enclosure arrived in good time and well packed.
I only set it up yesterday 08-09-2021. I inserted two hard drives that are full of my backups. I do find the lights up front are hard to see. The On/Off button on back is push button and too small for this Yottamaster. I not yet sure if it goes to Sleep when not in use as I can't see the darn blue lights. Only time will tell if I like it or not.
