If you are just beginning with sharpening or a pro, you are going to need some sort of Strop Compound. Knife sharpeners will tell you that there are certain grits of compound that are better than others. And for every knife sharpener out there they all have their preferences. No matter what you may think, you will need something to prepare your strop. That is a given. The question is what is the "right" grit. The biggest issue? If you have multiple strop grits it is highly recommended that you have more than one strop. Cleaning each strop before or after use is extremely difficult or easy, and it is important to have a clean strop. It is critical for knife sharpening to use a strop grit. This particular brand is sufficient and does what it is meant to do. There are better grits out there, but you do not need to go extravagant to get grits to start with or until you are familiar with their purpose. Good starter blocks, good grit choices for someone starting with grits or even for professionals that are familiar with grits. Highly recommended.

I use various grit of polishing rouge and diamond paste. I use it on various leather strops for finishing the edge of a knife blade after sharpening. As well as using the strop to polish the blades bevel to a mirror finish. I have purchased different “brands” off Amazon. “Brands” that have no name, no discerning the grit number. Made overseas and they are junk compared to this!! This is what ALL of them should be. Good size, easy to apply, lists the grit & polishes extremely well. I’ll keep buying this brand until the day I pass. A+

This is a good quality strop and compound. It has a very good appearance to it. It is easy to use if not sure it does come with instructions. Does very well on getting knives sharp. It has a good value for money. It performs very good. I also like that there was a hand written note form a woman name Emma.

Cuts metal fast. I also used it to high polish some of my knife clips. Absolutely fabulous!!!! Thank you guys!!!

Works as advertised.

Yeah I don't know about this. The green is supposed yo be a much finer grit than the white. When I use the white compound that came with the strope belt, I get a mirror finish. Neither the white nor the green will producevthis finish. It gets knives nice and sharp, but the cheap no-name compound that came with the belt got them just as sharp with a nice mirror finish.

Good compound, good price

This compound is the perfect consistency and goes on the strop very easily. I have use bars that were so dry you couldn’t get it on the leather and I’ve had some that were so gummy that it got all over the place. This was a perfect consistency and it maintained good consistency through several stroppings. It did not gum up. You can see by the picture of the bar how neatly and evenly it applied to the strop. You get a very decent amount of each of the compound for the money. I’ve paid a lot more for a single block that is smaller than one of the two that you get here. I don’t use the white very much because I normally don’t let my blades get that dull but it’s good to have around nonetheless. But the amount of compound just for the green that you get for the money is still better than most. And the consistency of the compound is better than many that I have tried. It comes with a nice little plastic case to keep the bars clean. And mine even came with a hand written note which was weird but nice. I’ve been through dozens and dozens of different compound bars and this is probably the best one that I have used so far. It’s certainly the least expensive. And the green even allowed me to put a better edge on my ceramic blades which is no easy task. I will look going forward to see if they sell the green by itself because I will not run out of the white, but I am very pleased with this particular stropping bar. It’s good enough to make me take notice of their other products.
