Would you sugest to place this over the overlay that comes with the device or place it without it?

If you are using the G7, I use these patches in addition to the included overlay.

Is there a substance over the sensor that isn't sticky? I bought another brand and the center is literally cut out .. that makes the sensor and secure

There is nothing that goes over the sensor on this patch. The center is cut out, so it goes around the sensor. It fits pretty close around the sensor.
