How To Build a Cheap Chopper
K**Y
Lots of nice pictures.
And that's about it. The section on rake and trail was good, but that's something easy to find online for free (at Lowbrow Customs, etc.). If you're looking for information on building bikes, Custom Bike Building Basics (isbn 978-1-935828-62-4) is a better book, How to Build a Bobber On a Budget (isbn 978-0-7603-2785-2) is a lot better book.

Want To Read A Cheap Chopper Book?
I was looking for more of a book that compared the difference of builds using just parts for Harleys. This book even goes into metric bikes something I'm not interested in. It's more of a here's a few pics of my bike and some fundamental information you should know. Would have been better if it went through an entire build on one bike, what options there are, costs and difficulties encountered. The only thing I don't understand is the title as there is no such thing as a cheap chopper. Maybe the metric choppers is the cheap way to go. Building a Harley is no longer cheap. Buying new parts is expensive. Build a cheap chopper and I think of building it with used parts. Even buying someone's aborted build is expensive if all the parts aren't there.

ii like it
this book is what it is i have read a lot of bad reviews on this book and saw a few good ones. If u really think u can just buy one book and build a bike, tome that would be a fantasy but it is a good book to start with. i plan on getting a few more books and finding someone with some real world experience in building bikes . at least i will know what to ask and now i know where to start

good ideas but limited space.
This book is filled with some good ideas, but rather limited on the space allowed (the flaw with all books). I would have liked to see a little more depth on the metrics with a little less of the kit bike ads, but section on the 'Redneck' choppers was worth the price. I was disappointed with the photos of the finished products (especially the metrics) but overall a good book for ideas.

Very nice
I thought it was a great resource.

I enjoyed someone else's point of view.
It is written where a new person to building bikes can understand, or someone who has been in the field for a while may pick up something new.

Great book for inspiration but...
"cheap" is a relative term. The book is a good resource for ideas, but the hubby was disappointed that there was little in there for doing things on the cheap. He likes the industrial look, rather than polished paint and chrome, so maybe that was part of his disappointment.

Pretty pictures, lacking substance.
The pictures look nice but the book is really lacking any real substance. It tells you basically how to bolt parts together to build choppers of varying price ranges. Anyone with a limited degree of mechanical skill could have written this book. Most of the Tim Remus books I've seen are like this.
