POOR quality pictures and MINIMAL updates
I bought the book for my wife who is an oral pathologist. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Most (almost all) pictures are the same as the previous 2016 edition but of lower quality. Images that were blurry or of low quality in the 2016 edition were not improved, replaced, or changed. A significant amount of edited clinical pictures look worse than in the previous edition (too dark , too red). Histology pictures are hit and miss since a significant numebr of them are too red/pink (too much color saturation/tint) to discern key characteristics/features. Updated information is widespread online and in journal articles (cheaper ways to stay current without spending money on a poorly edited book). As expensive as the book is, and as little updates as there are in the new 2023 edition, the least the authors can do is to include different images (clinical and histologic) from the previosu edition for all or most entities discussed, and ensure all images are of high quality and accurately depict what the author is trying to describe. Hopefully, future prints of the new/2023 edition will be of better quality than what was sent to us. Positives? Digital version included.
