A cracking little puck
This is an excellent soap. Lather's quite easily with a boar brush, and although it took a few goes to get the hang of it, it produces rich, creamy, slick lather. Many rate this soap as one of the very best; I will need to use it a few more times before I take a view, but early indications are very positive. The scent is mild, but pleasant - to be honest, if you didn't see "Sea Algae" on the packaging, it would be hard to identify anything in particular. And it is not the largest puck you will ever buy. However, at this price, there is still a hell of a lot of shaving to be done with this, and I quite like the idea of owning a shaving soap that I actually have a chance of finishing this year. Well worth the price, and I will try more from this range. EDIT - I have now shaved with it quite a few times. It continues to impress. An excellent, excellent performance from this item.

Surpassed All Expectations
I'd seen Haslinger soaps reviewed here-and-there, but they're not exactly well known, and the lack of a container is a bit of a bar to entry for many, but I've recently been exploring soaps which are a bit more performance/skin kind over fragrant (as the smell washes off anyway, it's SOAP, not EDT). Sage oil is quite good for acne prone skin, and I don't mind a bit of a herbal or earthy smell to my products anyway so gave this a try. What a great experience! This soap gives such an amazing shave, really comfortable, and the smell of sage is barely present. I purchased some empty 100ml cosmetics tins and grated the puck into one of them. This gives enough room for the 60g soap to fit plus plenty of space to load from. As I got 5 of these tins for a very low cost, I'm now trying out a few of the others in this range. I would highly recommend Haslinger soaps! For comparison I have also used TOBS shaving cream, Wickhams 1912 (extensively), Body Shop Maca Root cream, Gentlemans Shave Club cream, and a few others - I find this Haslinger to be better than all for comfort and performance, though obviously if you want a brief whiff of something pretty over the experience of a really good shave, you might want to go elsewhere.

Wow what a lovely soap
I was initially under whelmed when I saw the soap, very small puck simply wrapped nothing to get excited about . Then I used it , how wrong were my first impressions. I am relatively new to de wet shaving and have been collecting razors brushes and soaps in an effort to find the best shave . Well seven razors and six brushes and ten soaps later I arrive at Haslinger Soap and have to say any decent shave has got to include this gem. I live in a hard water area and this stuff just produced the best lather ever. In my collection I have Tabac and Kent hard soaps and Proraso ;Arko ;Figaro and Cella croaps and Taylor of Old Bond Street cream not to mention the good old Palmolive shave stick . Well for me this little puck beats them all easy to lather giving a rich thick lather that is slick giving a great shave . I have not been disappointed with any of the above but this little puck is the best . Give your face a real treat and buy this Haslinger soap .

Fantastic performance, but not managed to surpass Tabac for me
First of all I love the scent on this: it's powdery, clean, and sweet each in good measures to my nose. Wish it was a little stronger, but this is one of the big pluses of this soap for me. Very inoffensive imo. The performance is great on this, nice and slick with a lot of cushioning. Acts almost like a tallow soap but looking at the ingredients shows no tallow in it. It's a thirsty soap and very hard so it works well with all my brushes (synthetic and natural bristle). Very quick to lather, it's a great soap really. The four stars is because we live in a world where Tabac exists and you can pick up a refill stick for £5 here on Amazon or one in a holder for £6. They are easier to use and you get 100g vs 60g on this. I think Tabac has a bit better performance and I absolutely love the smell of it too. All in all a great soap but still doesn't replace Tabac for me. Price paid: £4.60 for 60g

Great stuff
I’d been sticking with Arko and Proraso for quite a while when I came across some glowing reviews of this on a shaving website so I thought I’d give it a go. It’s become my new go to shaving soap. It lathers brilliantly, smells great and the residual slickness as you shave is second to nothing else I’ve used. Highly recommended.

Good Quality Shave
I use it for face & body. I've only had a weird reaction(wee bit of a warm rash)te it 1 time, on ma face, yet have been consistently fine afterwards. I can take reactions te a lot of toiletries(usually due te synthetic fragrances). So, only 1 weird reaction, then consistently fine, is pretty good, fir me. Either way, I've been safer wi' this, in comparison te a posh London based brands traditional shavin' soap pucks(I got red spots & chronic sneezin', an' sinus pain). I hae a shavin' scuttle fae the same brand, an' this product, this puck, fits beautifully inte it, jus' fine. It foams/froths up easily & beautifully, via shavin' brush, an' works quite well, combined wi' a double edged safety razor. The frothy foam is beautifully light but thick, unlike the sort bubbly thin foam of the posh London brand I used. I purchased this companies sensitive version, at the same time as the lanolin sheep milk puck. So, after that, I'll decide which I prefer, then return te get another puck. Either way, this brand still wins. Best shavin' soap I've used, sae far.

Good Stuff.
Loads of lather and no nasty smell. Well worth the inexpensive cost.

Good things come in small packages
This product is nothing short of superb. The only scent is a sort of mild soapy smell, so if you like shaving soap with a hefty pong to it, this isn't for you. However, if your main concern is performance, look no further. It takes literally seconds to lather and quickly builds a nice, slick protective layer that results in an excellent shave. I'm astonished by how soft it leaves my face feeling afterwards, too, which no other product I've tried can match: perhaps that's the lanolin. The packaging is very basic - a plastic wrapper with two sticky labels on it - but so what? You're only going to tear it off and chuck it straight in the bin, so there's no need for anything more elaborate, which would only increase the cost of the soap. I chop and change shaving products regularly in search of perfection. Of course, that's something I'll never find, but this soap is the closest thing so far.
