Wedding Cakes and Flowers

this book has little definitive info on cakes.i was looking for more of a how to book.there is some information in this book but not what i was looking for at all.

This book is filled with traditional pictures of beautiful flowers and wedding cakes. If you're looking for wonderful ideas for your upcoming event, this book will do the trick. Very inspiring for me as a designer of edible centerpieces.

This is a lovely book, and a must for brides-to-be. It covers traditions, timelines to help you get it all done, and some beautiful photos of wedding ideas. Highly recommended.

As the title says, the book is divided up into two sections. Chapters 1 to 6 are about wedding cakes and Chapters 7 to 13 on Flowers.This book is not a "how to" or "do-it-yourself" book though (which was fine for me) but you must know you will not find cake or flower decorating hands-on advice. It's more about planning and deciding what you want.The first part on cakes is lovely and there are plenty of cake photos as ideas.They provide some practical advice on how to go about choosing a type of cake; for example do you want a traditional white, floral, colourful or informal elegant cake? Although I did get some ideas, I didn't find a cake I would have wanted in this book and I would have also liked to see a few more cakes with royal icing.I did not find the flower section very helpful; although it was nice enough there were no full themes or colour schemes that I could really use and the majority of bouquets or table displays were not really ones that I wanted (but that's just my taste). I did really like the double page on the meaning of various flowers though and I still sometimes get this book out to look up a flower meaning, although now with the wealth of the internet it's not necessary to have a book to tell you that a red tulip is a declaration of love or that camellia means gratitude.I enjoyed browsing through this book while I was planning my wedding, but I'm not sure whether it was so necessary to buy it and I didn't use it to plan my cake or flowers.
