Keeps the fizz!
Works great! Keeps the fizz in my Pepsi!I pump it until the bottle feels tight. The first time I reopened it, the pop sound startled me. But I got used to it.

Easy to pump and open
Bought this to try alternate to the "fizz keeper" pump we've used for years. This design doesn't look robust, but I was pleasantly surprised that the bulb was very solid yet easy to squeeze to pump up the pressure. Definataly better than the fizz keeper. Only negative is side effect of the design, in that as noted in other reviews, the height of the bottle with this on it is sometimes difficult to store in door and/or may require storing in fridge on its side.

If This Isn't Working For You, You Are Doing Something Wrong Or Yours Is Defective
I've found this to be an excellent product. I'll do my best to walk you thorough how I've obtained my excellent results:1) After opening the 2 liter bottle of soda I cut off the remaining plastic ring from the top of the bottle. This is a MUST DO for this gadget to work properly.2) Screw on the Fizz-keeper while it is closed tightly. Make sure the plastic washer is on the bottom of the Fizz-keeper. Mine is white. It is this washer that seals the Fizz-keeper to the bottle. Tighten the Fizz-keeper securely to the bottle but do not over tighten it.3) Making sure the Fizz-keeper's bulb is latched completely to itself. Then simply pump the bulb. I hold the bottle with one hand, squeezing the bottle slightly as I pump the bulb with the other. You will feel the bottle tightening as you pump air into it. If it doesn't begin to tighten something is wrong. It isn't completely closed or screwed to the bottle well or missing the washer or detective. So when the bottle becomes slightly hard to squeeze it is tight enough. It is this preasure that holds in the carbonation. Don't over pump the bulb because this will build unnecessary pressure inside of the bottle causing the Fizz-keeper to be harder to open and resulting in a loud "pop". Maybe even blowing it off of the bottle causing injury or worse. You would have to be a pumping fool to achieve this much pressure but it could happen. Don't worry, with a little practice you will get the "feel" of all of this pretty quickly.4) When I'm ready for some soda I press the release lever as I hold the bottle. Don't be supsuprised if there is a "pop" when opening. This is nomal and it assures that the bottle was pressurized and the drink should stll have carbonation. That's it.4) The one thing I failed to mention: DON'T SHAKE IT! As with all carbonated beverages, if you shake them the preasure builds and POP goes the Weasel!I've had great luck using my little Fizz-keeper and I hope you will too. I felt $9 was a bit too expensive for this but after doing the math it's not bad. I don't go through 2 liters of soda quickly and I usually throw away a quarter of it because it's flat. This little dude has solved that. I realize this is made of plastic and polymer and it will dry out and crack and become useless. But if this thing works for 50 bottles it will have more than payed for itself. Then I'll buy another one. This review, like all of my reviews, is not paid for in anway. I only do this to be helpful.

Prolongs, not preserves, carbonation
If you don't go through a two liter bottle of a carbonated beverage in a day or two, this gadget is a good investment. Keep in mind, though, that it does not easily (or maybe "ever") pressurize a bottle to the point that no CO2 will be released from the beverage. Rather, it pressurizes the bottle to about 90% of what it would take to preserve all of the carbonation. By using this doodad, a bottle of carbonated beverage will last an extra two or three days. Also, when you have used nearly all of the beverage, you'll be squeezing the little pump very many times to get it up to its maximum pressure, which isn't the most fun way to spend a good 35 seconds of your life.

They work but they wear out.
They work as advertised but they don't last long. I've bought several now and they seem to start leaking (i.e. become useless) after a couple months. I doubt I'm going to keep replacing them.

Doesn't work as advertised
My initial impression of the product was good. It seemed to be of reasonably sturdy construction and didn't feel particularly cheap. However, upon using the product, it became clear that it didn't work as intended.I gave it the benefit of the doubt, trying it on several different soda bottles before passing judgment. In each case, the product initially pressurized the bottles well but within a day, the pressure was gone and my soda went flat. I made sure the product was tightly screwed on and properly seated, but in each case, the outcome was the same.I thought perhaps I simply had a defective unit. Such things happen in manufacturing and it wouldn't be fair to rate a whole product line as bad over a single defect. However, upon careful inspection, I could find no defect. The rubber gasket that sealed the pump to the bottle was intact, properly seated and showed no obvious signs of being malformed. The hinge felt solid and the latch appeared to snap securely and seal. Nothing appeared defective. I can therefore only conclude that the design is itself is flawed. It's a shame. I liked the look and design of this product and I really wanted it to work. However, this product does not work as intended and I cannot recommend that anyone purchase it.
