It’s really good!
I was searching everywhere for a good soldering set. I had a hakko and I loved it. It finally died and needed/ wanted something Comparable. It’s not a hakko but if it doesn’t heat up quick like one, it holds the heat well, it’s small and for being a no name brand, no frills, it’s really good. It takes the T-12 tips which I bought a few off eBay and here and I was off. I highly highly recommend.

At first I wasn’t sure
I am still using a 15 year old soldering iron because everything I’ve bought that has been gnu has been fairly garbage. Even the established brands seem to make much more inferior units now. I pay 10 times as much for a new Hakko as I did for my old RadioShack one and I didn’t get six months out of it and it still never heated it up as fast.I was a little devious when I unboxed this thing because it looked like they were missing the actual soldering iron. This is a very slim profile metal rod so if you blink you’ll miss it but that’s the actual iron. It’s basically a heat core inside a sleeve. More like a soldering pen then the larger bulky your irons I’ve been used to. And while it doesn’t look cheap the entire thing has a serious homemade project built feel to it. None of this matters when I actually started to use it.I found that I enjoyed the much more agile thin handle than the bulkier irons and was able to maneuver and do precision work easier. The unit heated up astonishingly fast and maintained a good steady heat. Despite it looking like the most generic of generic soldering irons this thing performs excellently. It’s certainly better than the namebrand ones at three times the price that I have tried recently. I don’t even think this has a brand name.I guess because the form factor is so different this actually uses completely replaceable heating cores instead of replaceable tips. I’ve never seen a system like that but each tip is already connected to its ceramic heating core and you just swap out the cores themselves. I wonder if this means more longevity for the overall unit.It doesn’t matter though because this thing works excellently and costs a fraction of what other soldering stations are going for. I got this thing on at whim and now I can’t really imagine using a different iron.It comes with three cores a holder and the power unit. Overall the device is much more compact than my older units as well so it takes up less space on the workbench. I definitely appreciate that. I might be hesitant to give it five stars if it was $350 but $50 I will give it 5 stars all day long.

Does not get hot enough - too late to return

Ideal for beginners.
Good station, I've had it for a while now. It's easy to use and super beginner friendly. If you need something for more regular or demanding tasks I would get something a little more powerful/high end.The only problem I have with this is it takes a little longer to heat up and it does not get as hot as I would like it to. That said, it still deserves 5 stars since it performs super well for the price.

Mysterious T12 soldering station
I have no idea who makes this mysterious solder station, but it's really nice. It's super generic with no branding anywhere. It's very no nonsense. The handle cable plugs in the back and it uses a standard IEC grounded power cable (included). The handle is mostly metal and has a nice feel to it. A pretty nice stand is also included, with a sponge. It's pretty impressive and certainly this is a copy of a more expensive model. The display is basic but easy to use. Just push up or down to adjust the temperature and the display shows current and target temperature. There's a calibration adjustment if you are very particular about your temperature, and it's really easy to access which is nice.Like a lot of newer solder stations, this one has a motion sensor built in so it will go to sleep if not used for a set amount of time (up to 30 minutes). No more forgetting to turn off your iron and burning your house down! So that's a bonus.I don't know what to say about this soldering station. It uses standard T12 tips, it works really well, and it comes with 3 tips, all very usable for the kind of soldering I do (small electronics). It's compact, and works better than soldering irons that cost more than double what this one is. No complaints at all. The handle and tips are easily replaceable so as long as the main unit hangs in there, this could be a very nice soldering station for years to come.

What a difference it makes
I’ve used many different soldering irons before and most of them were on the cheaper end, just because they were available. The last one I purchased, I spent a little more on and this one is much more of a complete product. While the cheaper irons can get the job done in most cases, it may not be the best tools for the job. Some may not heat up hot enough and some takes longer to heat up. Without a display, you are left guessing and checking by trying to do the work with a tool that may or may not be at the correct setting. This takes the guess work away. It heats up fast and has a display to let you set its temperature. The on and off is on the display, so there isn’t accidental turning on and off of the soldering iron when in use or turning the temp too high or too low at the same time. The stand is pretty solid, which is nice because many of the units I’ve used before had a pretty flimsy one. This makes soldering so much easier and much more comfortable.
