Received this sculpture well packed and looking beautiful. Definitely a lovely gift for any reader or art appreciator. I’m not so sure about using as a bookend(?!) as it’s weighted, but NOT HEAVY. I also found it to be a bit “tippy” in one direction. But it would look nice on a bookshelf or atop a neat stack of books.My only complaint is that this “iron” sculpture has NOTHING on the bottom to protect the surface it sits upon. I will need to glue or stick some light felt on the bottom to protect my furniture from any scratching. Other than that, I’m very pleased to have this on display. The quality is excellent and looks great!

This cast iron piece arrived well packaged to ensure its integrity. It is somewhat larger than most of the artistic items that I order, which I like as it makes an impressive appearance on my bookshelf. I am attaching a photo next to a can of soda to give an idea of its size.The piece is solid and its paint job was perfect with no flaws or imperfections. It is a sturdy, weighty item that will not fall over with a good breeze. There is no pad or cushion on its bottom but I doubt that many owners are going to be pushing it around once it is placed in its location.It depicts someone leisurely sitting (maybe against a tree or big rock?) reading a large book in hand. It conveys the feeling that we bibliophiles experience when we are left alone to enjoy a good read. I placed mine on a bookshelf where it looks appropriate and evocative.I recommend this home decor figurine. It is solid, well-made, and just looks nice. I realize that there are other manufacturers who make similar figurines of the same subject & pose, but this one is larger than most, and much more visually impressive.

This iron sculpture of a person reading and reclining against the inside of a circle is almost too beautiful for words. It has a classic simplicity that will enhance the decor of any room that contains books. This is not a cheap trinket. It’s a legitimate metal sculpture. It is lightweight, but study. Nonetheless, despite the photograph in the product description showing the sculpture being used as a bookend, I would be reluctant to try to use it as as one with anything except a very few lightweight books. I have mine standing alone on top of a three-shelf bookcase in a grouping of bookcases in my living room and it looks perfect. I’m someone who carefully chooses what accent pieces I display in my home. Every piece must mean something to me personally or represent something important to me. As someone whose best friends when I was growing up were books and animals, this has become one of my most loved accent pieces, despite the short time it’s been in my home. If you know someone who loves read, this would be the perfect gift to give them, whether that person is someone else or yourself.
