There is just no substitute
It smells, it will give you a headache if you use it indoors, and maybe even outdoors. On fresh wood it will take 3 coats, and it is annoying that you can only get it in quarts, but when it dries, it looks amazing and has an almost plastic like protection. There just is no substitute for how good it is.

Great for re-finishing interior window frames...
I have been using this product with excellent results for 15+ years on 25 year old windows with wood interior trim. The previous homeowners let mold get started between the glass and wood trim, and, the urethane varnish in the casings exposed to sunshine literally evaporated over 10 years. After sanding the damaged trim pieces to bare wood with a triangular vibratory sander (Fein) and 180 grit paper (a tidy job if you hold a vacuum cleaner hose near the head), tape the window with 3M or frog tape and set it with a putty knife with a 1/16th inch gap to the wood so that the product actually starts on the window to keep future condensation out of the crack. Two coats 4 hours apart works on a warm day (75F), or longer as the product stays tacky longer below 70F. This product has effective anti-mold ingredients. However, the fumes from the product as it is applied and dries are horrific, so plan to leave windows open for a few days and send the family on holiday, seriously.

BE CAREFUl!
I have used Sikkens products previously for over 25 wooden windows and doors in my house. Every couple of years, I have to recoat with Sikkens transparent (satin) to keep the existing Sikkens coating fresh. I ordered the Proluxe Window and Door Finish (transparent) and applied to 4 windows only to realize that this product is only for bare wood or where previous product was removed and sanded and treated. Not for previously coated wood. No where on the Amazon listing can you see this except on the can of the product in tiny print. I am upset not because of the loss of product and application, but now i have a coating on my windows that is probably going to peel off and the labor to correct is going to be days not hours. The correct Sikkens product which is designed as a refresh coat looks exactly same can and the only difference as far as I can see is the wording of Door and Window Finnish. WARNING Do not use this product on previously coated surfaces.

Best in Class Finish.... if you follow directions.
The best there is. Been using this for years.... back to when it was called Sikkens.Remember though.... quality takes time. Quality takes preparation. Quality takes a commitment to detail. This is not a “One and Done” “oneHour” kind of finish. Take your time. Follow the directions EXACTLY. You will be rewarded with a best in class result.

Great Finish
This is the only product I use on my outdoor deck (15 years). Recommended by the deck builder, who works in the marine boat industry. Mid-Atlantic weather here, requiring a light touch up every 3-4 years. Deck still looks fantastic. Product deeply penetrates the wood to protect and preserve its natural qualities as well as color.
