Siphon: Power Comes With A Price Paperback – April 26, 2023

I truly enjoyed taking a chance on SIPHON. While I've encouraged others to explore authors outside their usual genres/literary constructs, I'd hardly practiced what I'd preached with science fiction, with the exception of an early novel by Neal Stephenson gifted to me over a decade ago. Fast-forward to present day, where one of the best and most important outcomes of finishing this impressively well-written first effort is that it re-energized my interest in sci fi (and the prospect of a sequel!), sparking my imagination in an altogether different way as a bonus benefit. And I'm right there in lockstep with the other reviewers who called out the solid character development, unexpected emotional investment, and an approach that intelligently strayed from formula without sacrificing plot or credibility. Excellent work!

Superhero films and novels are now becoming blasé, all to often repetitive, boring, or ...oh, not that same story line. Thank heavens I found this novel restoring my faith in the superhero fiction novel. Siphon is as much original as it is moving, taking the reader not only throw an enjoyable reading experience, but also an emotional ride, where you really feel for the characters inside it.The idea behind Siphon's superpowers is a very interesting one - without giving too much away, let's just say that the sub-title of the book "Power Comes With A Price: is very apt.Combine this with superb writing from the author, and you have a real page-turner. I strongly recommend this book to all fans of superhero novels and sci-fi fans alike.

As I followed Apollo’s journey, I couldn't help but become invested in his triumphs and setbacks.“Siphon” is a mesmerizing science fiction novel that ignites (no spoilers! – but pardon the pun) the imagination and challenges readers to contemplate the boundaries of scientific possibility. The character development and gripping narrative, combined with the author's insights on science fact and fiction, all come together to create a reading experience that is nothing short of extraordinary.

Just when I thought "ahh I know where this is going", the story threw a suprising twist. I really enjoy reading this book, following the character's development (which is very human and logically sound although it's based on fictional, surreal premise) and I hope to find other writings from the author.

Loved reading this book. The characters were brought to life with enough depth to really care about them. I’m looking forward to a sequel!

I read over 80 sci-fi/fantasy books per year and the novel Siphon by Jason Fox ranks well toward the top 10%, doubly so as a first published effort (many FP sci-fi novels need some further work, this one does not!) Siphon has an engaging combination of primary character development, moral quandaries, diversity of pace, and plot twists. This novel adds plausible descriptions for the various powers/technology, enriching the storyline, without making it too complex for its genre. It’s a mashup of superhero and sci-fi which works well in the author’s telling. Siphon is a thoroughly enjoyable summertime read….. the only complaint? That after finishing, I want a sequel!

I am a Fantasy and Sci-Fi aficionado, having read the classics across the spectrum from Azimov to Bradbury to Zelazny. In searching for new authors whose categories fit my interests I found Siphon fits the bill. The principal character is someone easily identifiable despite his fearsome abilities. This novel by first time author Jason Fox effortlessly combines an amalgamation of alien and humanistic storylines. Although self-contained as a stand-alone novel, here’s hoping for a follow up. The surprise for me was my wife, a non Sci-Fi fan also enjoyed reading it as much as I did.

Was recommended by a golf buddy so I bought it and read it in one sitting that’s how much I liked it! I have never read a book in one sitting!! Really enjoyed the adventure of Apollo! I need to be alerted at the author’s next book ( maybe a sequel)!
