Awesome addition to the story, my favorite so far
I really loved The Book of Harmony; I think it’s my favorite so far. Way too much fun and twisty to read, with never a dull moment. Of course, I’d have to go back to the beginning of the series to judge. (That’s as good as an excuse as any… My only issue with Melissa McShane’s books is that every book is my favorite until I go back and read another of hers, then that book becomes my favorite, even if it’s a re-read. I haven’t met one of her books or series that I haven’t loved yet!)There is a lot of character development in The Book of Harmony, plus mysteries, missing mages, and the usual mayhem. But intertwined with it all is the growing mythology about the Oracle itself. Every time I think McShane has finished painting the intricacy of the Oracle and its existence, she paints on another vibrant and mysterious layer to the Delphic entity. As the Oracle’s hands, Helena must deal with deception, betrayers, murderers, and a malfunctioning oracle. It will be a miracle if she can make it through to her wedding in one piece while keeping the peace. It’s a good thing she has friends in strange places.I found myself emotionally wrought over a few viscerally emotional scenes that were deceptively simple and yet incredibly well done. Rather like Fred Astaire. So much work to makes something look so effortlessly easy. Kudos!A nice touch to McShane’s Last Oracle series is that she has an end note of the books used for the augeries and also all the movies quoted in the book. That led my family to the delightfully dark comedy gold of Kind Hearts and Coronets. So wonderfully understated and Alec Guinness with so many faces…A fun read, a great addition to the story line, and absolutely a fantastic stepping stone as we approach the final denouement. Highly recommended.I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from the author. My opinions are my own.

unnecessarily complicated
or maybe just long winded? and why do they even talk about helena not running into danger anymore? i do like we’re the oracle is going. but, if that was called the book of harmony, what exactly happens in the book of war?

Magic bookstore
This is the seventh book in the series and I’ve read them all in a week. I was sold at magic bookstore, but it just keeps getting better. Great storytelling and finally plots that I haven’t read before. I hope a network picks them up, Helena deserves the silver screen.

Did a victory dance at the end!
This is my favorite book so far in this series. Full of adventure and triumph, not to mention a wedding, love and unexpected twists. Series is great and each book never disappoints.

A tension-filled rollercoaster ride
With deception, betrayal and a shocking prediction from the Oracle, this book takes you on a tension-filled rollercoaster ride. A great addition to the Last Oracle series.

This was a good one
So many typos and obvious bad edits in this one too. The story is always compelling. The main characters are inconsistently rendered though some of the supporting characters are better fleshed out and relatable. Considering the vast # of books averaging around 200 pages turned out under this author’s name I can only assume the goal is quantity over quality. It is too bad. This idea has the potential to be something better than forgettable “fast food”. I paid my $5 bucks a pop to #7 so it must not be too bad.

Lovely
This was a good change of style and pace. The war continues but this allowed Helena to shine. She problems solved and works with the oracle. The ending was lovey.
