Q: Does this adapter work with the gtx 1050? I read that sometimes it's not compatible

It does indeed have some compatibility issues with 1050 and 1050 ti but will work on the other gpus of the 10-series so long as you roll-back your gpu driver to the 372.70 version

Q: How do i connect this to my laptop? There is no expresscard to plug into the computer.

V8.0 EXP GDC Laptop External cable is what is needed. It is also called a ngff cable and can be bought seperatly from the dock.
