Longest lasting coals ever!
Yes, you do notice the coconut smell and taste in your food, but very faintly, more like a less woodsy smoke than say Oak charcoal. I have had even just a few of these coals last over 24 hours on my smoker so they are a slow burn with a good white smoke. Worth every penny, especially if you are smoking foods that require a certain quality of smoke to them. Originally I was turned onto these in the Philippines, known for their Lechon cooking, and was pleasantly surprised to find on Amazon. I like to save these for my Thanksgiving turkey.

Fair product
This was pretty good charcoal I used it to smoke some steaks then grilled them using the same charcoal and there seemed to be quite a bit of life left in the charcoal like at least another cook if not 2

Yes yes yes love this stuff.
ok first off it's super hot like i see it searing meat in like 10-20 second hots. Which makes it amazing for anything small. Second because it burns so hot it instantly vaporizes fat and all that, perfuming whatever with that beautiful smoke flavor in a way that just normal charcoal doesn't. This allowed me to make amazing scallops over this coals, also fantastic yakituri. And third, these coals you can use like 2 or 3 times before they runs out. because since this burn so long and burn. you finish cooking fast, throw in water to put out, then take out and let dry for next use. So yes it's doesn't seem like you get much, until you realize that 22 pounds works more like 44 to 66 pounds of coal depending on use.So if you love grilling over charcoal, 100% use this stuff. also charcoal chinmey helps, just soak 2 paper towels with oil and light on fire underneath, and that will get this stuff lite.

Decent charcoal
Very hard to start, even with heater coil. Charcoal burned hot when it was very red, but otherwise was average temp when it smoldered. Lasted ~2-3 hours, but not 5 as advertised. Way more expensive than lump, so going back to that.

Sustainable charcoal burns super clean for hours
New to grilling and wanted to find a sustainable charcoal. Thaan Bamboo was a great choice! It lit great in my chimney starter and stayed hot for hours. I think it is better suited to a yakitori style grill rather than a kettle since the food can get closer to the heat element in the smaller grill. I had great results with putting eggplants around the coals to roast and think wrapped sweet potatoes would also be delicious cooked this way.I got two rounds of grilling out of a 5 lb box. Maybe it is more cost effective to buy in larger quantities, which I don't have any reservations about doing. Love that you can (theoretically- haven't tested it myself) pour water to extinguish and relight again. No odors, not too much smoke, and the food tasted great!

Glad to finally find this style of charcoal, gets really hot , burns for a long time. Only took 2 bricks to cook 2 hanger steaks to perfection.

Mostly broken logs
The box, weighing 4.8lbs (including the cardboard box and plastic), had 11 logs in it. Only 5 out of the 11 were not broken into pieces. Mostly the bottom layer. Not super happy about paying more money for broken charcoal logs when more economical options are available.Works as attended I guess.
