Relax, It's a Sony
I love the sound. This little Bluetooth speaker cost me a little more than half a Benjamin and turns my smartphone into a respectable sound system. Plus, it’s compact, portable, battery powered (for approximately six to eight hours at high volumes w/quick recharge using the newest standardized rechargeable/data connection that has a small, rounded-rectangular “pill”-shaped reversible plug), waterproof, and incredibly drop-resistant. When I drop it, instead of worrying I tell myself, "Relax, it's a Sony, it will be fine," and it always is. This is actually my second one. I dropped the first speaker many dozens of times over the past four years (easily 50+) and it continued to play flawlessly. What finally pushed me to replace it wasn’t normal wear and tear. During a cross-town move from Brooklyn to Manhattan, I carelessly packed it in an open box. A sudden stop from the moving van bounced it out of the unsecured box, and a heavy table ended up resting on top of it. Amazingly, it wasn’t crushed or dented. The only issue was a slight decline in sound quality at higher volumes — the bass was no longer as clean. Considering what it survived, I was thrilled to find another one just like it for sale on Amazon. Because it’s affordable and so durable, I kept the original as a backup and bought a new one.

Great little speaker! Crisp sound - Waterproof - Long Life - SUPER easy Bluetooth connection
I really like this speaker. It’s very small/compact but has a very nice, high quality, clear sound. The Bluetooth connection is SUPER easy to use; I just downloaded the app and it connected immediately - no repeated set up attempts and no fuss! And the Bluetooth connection doesn't drop - even when switching back and forth between multiple phones/devices which is somewhat rare with these kinds of speakers. It has a strap with a "buckle" so you can strap it on to almost anything and it's also waterproof which gives me peace of mind since I'm using it in the bathroom to listen to while showering etc. It plays a LONG time on a charge but you can also keep it plugged in all the time with the easy to use USB-C port. It's not the loudest speaker in the world but given it's very compact size, I really wouldn't expect it to be and I'd prefer crisp sound over booming volume. I would NOT recommend this you are trying to find a speaker for a large room or to hear throughout multiple rooms but for smaller areas (like a deck/patio, a smaller bedroom, or a bathroom which is where I am using it), it's an incredible deal. I got it on sale during prime days but depending on the color and when you buy, I've seen it at or near the same low price since. I'm definitely happy with this purchase!

Excellent sound and battery
Great little speaker ! I use it outside in my yard and it fills the space. Nice bass and balanced sound. Also very nice for listening to a playlist or podcast in the shower because it is water resistant. I use it every dah and love the lightweight and easy solution to good sound.

Little powerhouse
I reserved judgement until I could get a good well-rounded opinion, as I've never personally or directly owned a Sony product before. My family has a long history of consumerism, but I was never the owner. As far as the packaging, it was all recyclable and the speaker is also made of recycled material. There was no unnecessary wrap or filler pieces, as the stereo is a solid short piece and didn't much need to be protected. It's about the size of a soda can but shorter, as they describe, and no frills. All capabilities also. It comes with a strap and charging cable, which is super handy (not the cable, I've got 100 of those, but I do appreciate it's the thought that counts). I mostly use it at night for my sleep sounds. I do also use it for the car, since my car is older and doesn't have anything fancy. I also use it for the kids sleep and nap sounds. However, now that I've had it for over a year, recently it's started to cut out at night and turn off. I cannot figure out why, but I suspect it's my sound app (which shouldn't turn off either). I'm not going back to the listing, but based on the box, I believe it is waterproof. Considering my current limitations, I have no interest in testing this matter. There's no standard/old school battery to replace. And Bluetooth connection has a range up to about 50 feet before it cuts. Pros: compact, small, easy to travel with; fits in cupholders; decent sound, with a wide range. Cons: loud "on" jingle, super annoying; the cutting out thing. Overall, I do still think it's a great value, and worth it. You can carry it on or in a purse or backpack of almost any size. I got the light grey, which allows me to see it in my black purse interior.

Powerful, Waterproof Speaker for Daily Soundtracks
Overall, amazingly powerful little speaker with far-reaching range, great sound quality, and long battery life. I use this speaker daily in the bathroom when I’m in the shower and getting ready. I love the loop feature because I hang it over a towel hook while I shower. Because it’s waterproof, I’m sure you could take it in there with you, but I personally don’t have the hook or shelf space to accommodate an extra item. Whether it’s a getting ready playlist or a favorite podcast, this speaker lets out great range to hear over my shower faucet and noisy exhaust fan. When I’m done there, the soft-touch material of the buttons make it easy to turn down the music while I do my make-up. This little device is so lightweight and portable, and I frequently bring it into the kitchen when me while I’m cooking or tidying up. You can easily connect it to multiple devices (I have my phone, my iPad, and partner’s phones connected) so that anyone can play DJ. My only gripe with this speaker, and I knew it going in, is that I wish it had a skip button. Sometimes I’m not feeling a certain song, but if I’m in the shower, I’m stuck with it! First world problem, I know, but it would really elevate the experience if there were skip and rewind buttons. Other than that, amazing speaker and so happy I purchased it! Give it a try and you won’t regret it!

REVIEW AFTER TWO WEEKS’ USE Sony caught thunder in a cup and called it SRS XB-100. This speaker is pretty loud and clear for its size, purpose and price. It is strictly meant for personal use or a small gathering of 6-8 people at best. Yet this little coffee mug outsmarts every other speaker below 5000 Rs. (Note – this speaker is not loud enough for a party. Those who feel that it is not loud enough for personal use may get an audiological evaluation to see if you have noise-induced hearing loss. Since hearing loss from loud noise (above 70 dB / 70% volume) is irreversible, try to reduce the loudness you listen to and follow 60:60 rule.) AUDIO QUALITY Vocals are loud, crisp and clear. Bass is good but not over-the-top. Good treble. From my experience, I would rate SRS XB-100 for various purposes as below. Playing music files = 10/10 Playing podcasts = 8/10 Call quality = 8/10 Playing YouTube videos = 7/10 Playing Movies & Series = 7/10 Generally, 50%-60% volume was sufficient for audio files to be clear and loud enough. Podcasts needed around 70%. YouTube videos, Movies & Series needed 70%-100% and they largely depended on the quality of file as well. Some old BBC documentaries and series played as clear as any music file at 60% volume whereas Avatar, LOTR series and Spiderman needed at least 80% volume. PORTABILITY The MOST underrated aspect of this speaker. You could take it and hang it anywhere. CHARGING & BATTERY LIFE About 4 to 4.5 hours to charge fully. At around 60% volume, SRS XB-100 lasts for nearly 10 hours, 2 hours less than advertised. At full volume, it lasts nearly 6 hours. But it has no fast charging and the chord provided for charging is very small. These are the only cons I felt. SONY MUSIC CENTRE APP It just tells you how much battery is left, allow connecting with other Sony speakers for stereo effects and updates the software. It serves no other purpose for this speaker. COMPARED TO OTHER SPEAKERS……. From below 5000 range, only Tribit MaxsoundPlus comes close in XB-100’s audio quality. Tribit XsoundGo is not even as good as the good old Sony SRS-XB13 which got replaced by XB-100. To me, XB-100 sounded better than Tribit Stormbox Micro 2, and even Marshall Willen. XB-100 sounds way better even than Sony’s own 24W speaker SRS XE-200. Don’t fall for the gimmick of speakers with more wattage. 1 watt means that speaker can produce maximum 87dB sound within 1 m distance. Whereas as a 20W speaker could produce only 97dB sound within 1 m distance. For comparison, train horns are blown at 90dB. Any sound above 90dB could cause earache and permanently damage hearing. Nobody plays songs and videos at that sound. As the distance increases beyond 1 m, loudness also decreases. So unless you are not looking for a party speaker or something for an outdoor gathering, a speaker below 10W is sufficient. I am NOT talking here about how loud a speaker can get. There is no point in getting a speaker that is just earblastingly loud but lacks any clarity of sound. So yeah. I am completely satisfied with this one. Try it; you too might be.
