Best version of a window AC!
This is definitely the best version of a window air conditioner! It’s nice and quiet, runs consistently so it’s a pretty even amount of noise all the time, and it can cool our primary bedroom effectively. The installation was a little cumbersome but the instructions were clear and the hard foam side panels seal against the outside way better than the plastic accordion solutions other units have. And most importantly, it blows the cold air up instead of out, which makes it much more comfortable to be around. It’s definitely loud from the outside but I can’t complain much.

lasted less than 26 days :(
Must have got a bad one, bought it June 30th, July 25th it quit. Was excited to get this unit. It takes longer to install than a regular window unit, but I was excited to be able to open the window on cool days. It ran great, was quiet, and cooled nicely. After a couple of weeks, I noticed it was noisier than normal, and it then shut off with a P1 error. looked it up and it said empty inside tray its full of water. opened the plug and water poured out. Started the air it ran a about 15 min then it shut off same code again. Same thing full of water, it was staying inside, not pumping to the outside. Unplugged it waited a a couple of hrs, plugged back in, ran a bit, then same issue again, tried all the suggestions in troubleshooting. The pump must have quit. ended up returning it. I really liked it until the issue.

Quiet, efficient, and keeps the window open
Really wonderful window AC, a huge improvement over the floor standing portable unit I’ve been using for years. The unit itself is extremely quiet since all the noisy bits are outside, it can make a bit of a racket shaking the window and nearby objects though. You’ll find windowsill vibrations you never knew you had. Also extremely energy efficient, I saved about $20/month in the summer vs the old portable AC unit. Compressor, interior fan, and exterior fan are also electronically variable speed, and the unit can control each one to maximize efficiency. Also has some extra efficiency boosting functions like splashing drain water over the exterior coil. Very easy to install, no mounting brackets at all since it just straddles the windowsill. It is pretty heavy though, and somewhat awkwardly sized (most of the weight is on the end that sits outside). It can be taken in and out by one person if they’re in decent shape, but two people makes it a lot easier to avoid hurting yourself.

Much better than the non-inverter model.
After having bought the non-inverter model of this a/c I complained to GE about its lousy performance and they generously refunded my money. I then purchased the inverter clearview a/c. It is a much refined unit. Much quieter and actually cools pretty well although there is a trick to keeping your room cool the complete night. What I do is program the temperature to drop a degree every two hours and that seems to keep it relatively stable. I just can’t understand why they program an a/c to have a 3-4 degree swing with a digital temp control. This should be adjustable.

Vast improvement over standard window until!
This is by FAR quieter than the 12000BTU GE standard unit it replaced. In fact it is no louder than the quite lasko tower fan that I use to circulate the air in my living room. I honestly forget that the unit is on, and I sit about 6ft away from it. I can leave the tv at the same volume as when the unit is off. I can hear when someone talks to me. I don’t have to go in another room when I get a call. This is great. I was concerned about spending so much on this unit compared to standard ones, but decided to because I was tired of all the noise. Unexpected bonus: this will pay for itself in electricity savings by the end of next summer! Because of its design, not only is it vastly quieter, it is way more efficient than a standard unit. On an 85F day, my old 12000btu unit would use about 17-18kw, this new unit only used 2.4kw on the same settings. Also, I installed it in a 43” wide window using the suppled parts. If you have a larger window, you can just get a little creative, plan ahead using the insulation pieces provided and you should be fine. It is pretty easy to address basic noise issues during installation. If the body of it is vibrating, just tighten the 2 outside wall support bolts to stabilize the unit. With mine, the air filter in the main intake rattled a little to start with. To fix, just take some of the leftover thin black insulation and put it on the filter in the corner where it is vibrating. I had to put it in 2 corners, but no rattling noises at all. It is so quiet. This was an excellent purchase.

Not worth the money
I do not recommend this A/C. I have another brand of U inverter A/C (starts with M) and it performs much better and was cheaper. This A/C is pretty noisy on the high setting, which is the only setting on which it will actually cool the space. If any other setting is used, it is much more quiet, but it turns off prematurely and never reaches the set temperature. The actual temperature on any setting other than "high" is several degrees higher than the set temperature. The A/C does not have physical buttons -- you touch the hard plastic case instead. If you reach for anything and brush against the A/C, the buttons are accidentally activated. They do not feel responsive and I do not have confidence that they will work long-term. You have to press the on/off switch twice every single time you use it. The included remote control has no LED screen, is cheap plastic, and you cannot tell what option has been selected when you press a button. E.g., you press the "mode" button to scroll through the modes, but you have to guess which mode has actually been selected. The other A/C I mentioned above has an LED screen and you can see which option you have selected. Amazon shipped this item with some of the installation materials missing. I had to obtain them directly from GE. To GE's credit, they did ship me a new set. They get one additional star for good customer service. I have not tried to connect the WiFi. I do not yet know whether it is as energy efficient as it is supposed to be. I have purchased several GE large appliances in the past, and they mostly held up well. GE appliances purchased in the past few years have not performed as well. Message to GE: You need to deliver quality for your higher price or else your competition will get my business.

Awful unit. Super noisy and shakes the whole house
I've tried to make this unit work for me but it's just horrible. Installation was fine. It's not hard to install but materials supplied seem low quality and are difficult to cut and manipulate for installation. Unit is smaller and fits in a small window just fine. The unit cools the room but at a huge cost. I bought the inverter version with hopes that it would be quieter and more energy efficient. The unit is so noisy I had a friend over and he asked me why it sounded like a heavy truck was parked idling outside my garage. It vibrates the whole side of my house and inside the bedroom makes unbearable rattling noises while I'm trying to sleep. I called Amazon and unfortunately I was outside the return window. I called GE and they recommendeded I call a service technician on the other side of the country. Calling back, they recommendeded a company that only service commercial units. Calling a 3rd time they recommendeded several local HVAC companies that don't service window units. Do yourself a favor and just don't buy this. It's the most regrettable purchase decision I have made this year.

I can't recomend this Air Conditioner
This 10,300 BTU AC seems like it should be the best there is (split design, doesn't block view, WiFi, high cooling power, inverter, etc), but I had a bad experience and returned it. The main reason I bought this AC was because it fits a 20" wide window and is split with the compressor outside. I wanted something quiet. This is basically the only example I could find. The other "U" shape AC units only fit down to a 23" wide window. The main flaw with this is that the compressor vibrations were really bad and transferred though the wall. I could put my hand on the wall next to the window and literally feel the wall vibrating. This low drone vibrating sound was really annoying and a complete deal breaker. When the compressor was off it was very quiet, only the air sound. I have another AC that sits fully in the room with a hose and that AC is better. I suspect that there is no dampening inside or something. Maybe the lower BTU units with smaller compressor are better. This thing was like hearing a nonstop jackhammer in the distance. The other flaw is the installation. It weighs 90 lbs and is a pain to lift into window. Once i got it in the window, I realized that the feet on the back sit on the vinyl siding and not the trim. This could damage the vinyl siding, but more important, the feet would not extend far enough to secure it. To fix this, I raised it up with some wood on the sill until the feet landed on trim. This took a few tries of lifting that beast, but worked. BTW, my installation was not the source of the vibrations. I used the included foam pads under it and tried several different ways to isolate it from the wall including rubber feet between the sill. I should also mention that it was a difficult to seal between the sill because the foam was not wide enough. Another annoying thing was the WiFi app. It took a bit to setup creating a logon and password, with your email and pairing with bluetooth to set the WiFi, but worse, it seemed like it consumed too much personal information. For example it refused to work without knowing your location. Why? I think it required name and phone and other personal stuff too. It felt too invasive. When I when i went to return it, there was no way to delete the information or factory reset it. There wasn't even a way to change the Wifi, except to go through the initial setup again. Crazy. I know we all are used to invasive appliances now (thermostat, garage door, door cameras, etc, etc) but I am tired of it. I would not recommend.
