Worker like a chime! BUT...
* Our indoor chime stopped working. I finally realized all I had to do was go into the Lorex Home app doorbell settings and set it to "third party chime > mechanical chime." The default was set to "no chime."- Install was a breeze.- The 15-degree adapter was great since our doorbell is on the left wall of the front entrance.- Setup was a breeze. We already use the Lorex Home app, so adding this device was simple.- Connected to our Wi-Fi network easily.- We have multiple 4K security cameras, so I was concerned this 1080p doorbell camera might be disappointing. Not at all! Images are nice and crisp.- Overall couldn't be happier. Would buy again!

Updated Review
I am updating the review of this doorbell camera because it turns out that the problems I was having was a T-Mobil problem and not a Lorex problem. I am now getting relatively fast notifications on both my home's wi-fi and cellular. I have the camera set to person notification only and it works reliably with only occasional false alarms when a large vehicle drives by but that's rare. I did have a problem where the first unit stopped working after only a few months but Lorex customer support was easy to work with and they did a cross-shipping warranty exchange so I wouldn't be without my doorbell for two weeks so kudos for that. I also have the Amcrest version of this camera and while the hardware seems to be the same the Lorex app works much faster when connected to cellular. I also like that you can snooze the Lorex camera if you are working outside and within detection range so that you don't get flooded with notifications, the Amcrest app does not have that feature. One really big advantage of the Amcrest is that you can make camera adjustments using their computer app, I really, really wish Lorex would provide something similar. While not relevant to everyone I also wish I could set a fixed IP address on the Lorex like I can on the Amcrest. All-in-all, I'm very satisfied now that the doorbell is working properly on my phone and would not hesitate to recommend this camera.ORIGINAL REVIEW: First let me say that the image quality on this camera is very nice for a doorbell camera. Also the firmware does a good job at correcting most of the wide-angle distortion. I like the LED light on the bottom and have it set to flash when it detects motion so that people will look at the camera. The night color mode works pretty good with my porch light on (which it is all night) and the IR night mode works well too. There is only one HDR setting but it does a good job. Now for the bad parts. The Android app is a complete disaster. This is supposed to be a security camera, hence, it should notify you when it detects motion, or a person if that's how you have it setup. The problem is that the notifications can often take several seconds to several minutes. What good is that? I am using a brand new mesh dual band router and a brand new 5G phone. The signal strength is at max bars for both the camera's Wi-Fi and the phone's 5G, so it's not a signal issue. I also tried replacing the 24VAC 40VA transformer I was using on my old doorbell camera with a 2 pound industrial 24VAC 50VA transformer, so it's not a power problem. The app is slow to load and when I click on the camera icon I get a message that says "Loading live view" for over half a minute before getting the message "uh-oh, something went wrong". It might take several tries before I can get a picture on my phone. The same thing happens when I try to view a recorded video. The only way I can get a picture on my phone within a reasonable amount of time is if I am sitting at home and turn on the Wi-Fi on my phone, then I can usually get to the camera. I even tried turning off every battery saving feature I could find on my phone, but the notifications still take way too long. There have been times when I'm not really thinking about the camera after leaving the house and several minutes I'll get a notification while I'm driving. Turns out the notification was me leaving the house. The "person" detection is also good at detecting cats if you're trying to keep an eye out for kitty.Unbelievably there is no web interface for adjusting the camera, like getting rid of the huge LOREX logo that no one wants, or repositioning the date/time to where it works for you. There are no adjustments for brightness, contrast, saturation, white balance, HDR level, etc. This is a lot of money to pay for a camera that you can not adjust to suit your needs. Another head-scratcher is that the camera is not ONVIF compliant. I guess Lorex wants you to buy into their new Fusion system because this camera won't even work with their slightly older non-Fusion NVRs. How's that for ticking-off loyal Lorex customers?Despite its shortcomings, this could be such a nice camera if the app actually worked, but after spending weeks of trouble-shooting, researching the Internet and trying every setting possible on the camera, my phone, and the app, I'm afraid this camera will not work on an Android 11 device.

Worked great for 1.5 years. Now it will not ring the mechanical doorbell and video freezes
The picture is great and captures our front entry well. The fact that the camera captures 15 seconds prior to the motion detection is great because our former Skybell HD would miss capturing anyone in the front entry if they were just delivering a package. Wiring the Lorex to our mechanical doorbell worked great because we have a steady 19.5 volts, which is within the specified range of 16v to 24v. After a year and a half, we noticed several video captures for people that appeared to be pressing the doorbell and I received notifications of the person at the door. But the mechanical doorbell did not ring and the video capture appeared to quit as soon as the doorbell button was pressed. I contacted Lorex customer support and went through rebooting, reseting the Lorex, re-setting up the Lorex, checking the voltage, etc. I bypassed the doorbell button by connecting the wires together and the mechanical doorbell rings. So there is some problem with the circuitry of the Lorex. I have not heard back from customer service after I mentioned that the Lorex was 1.5 years old. $179 is too much for a doorbell that only lasts 1.5 years o I do not recommend this Lorex doorbell Model B451AJD-E (B451AJ Series).

Video doorbell
So far so good. Well made. Looks good. The brackets it's attached too could be better. It goes offline every so often but comes right back on. The light on the doorbell should be in a different position for night videos when some someone comes to the door. The app could be simplified. Takes a while to get used too just like anything new. Overall it's very good, videos are good. I would recommend this video doorbell. Oh, no subscription fees. Another plus!

Performs as advertised
Does what it claims to. Installation was relatively simple, connecting to wifi and pairing to the app was a little more complicated but went well.Motion detection and night vision work well. Multifactor only works with SMS or Google Authenticator evidently, other TOTP providers do not seem to be supported.

Great customer service from Lorex
I purchased this product because of a problem that I encountered with my older video doorbell camera. Before this purchase, I contacted Lorex customer service, speaking to an agent who was extremely knowledgeable & helpful in diagnosing the problem. As it turned out, the the issue could not be resolved so I ordered a very similar product from Amazon. I received my order within 2 days & installed the camera on the following day. Installation was a breeze - just follow the prompts once you get the app from the QR code on the back of the device. (I also received an email from Lorex offering assistance with the installation, after receiving my order.)So far, I am extremely pleased with the product. It seems to work as well, with a better video than my older camera.

Great app and features - HIGHLY recommended
I have tried other video doorbells before including the Amazon/Blink. This is BY FAR the best one. Just everything is better - video quality is crystal clear, comes with angled mounting brackets, easy setup, regular 2 wire connection that works with most existing doorbells and most important NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES. My unit came with a 32GB memory card that is upgradeable. The app itself is amazing and full of useful features like the timeline bar allowing you to quickly scrub through the entire recording history. The motion detection is actually smart and can differentiate between a car and a person coming to the door leading to a clean and not cluttered recording list full of meaningless recordings like other video doorbells do. Very happy with this and will definitely recommend. Makes me very interested in the rest of Lorex's home security solutions.

Impressed enough I bought another
I wanted a doorbell camera that doesn't require a subscription, works off the wiring of my house's existing doorbell system, and rings the house's doorbell chime so that a wireless chime isn't needed. We already had a Lorex dvr and cameras helping with our home's security, so I was happy enough to try this unit. Installation wasn't particularly a problem, however I needed to drill and chisel out a cavity in the door trim so the wiring would fit under the unit in order to get it to clip into its bracket. The camera quality, motion detection and app are all okay enough, although I was a bit disappointed to not find a Windows app available so I could use it on my laptop and that Lorex Home is also not available through the Amazon App store, so I couldn't download it to my Kindle table. Overall I was satisfied enough to buy a second unit for the side door. Adding the second unit is where the fun began as my door chimes started rumbling and dinging on their own. Reading the other reviews, I came to the conclusion my doorbell transformer wasn't up to the task of supplying the juice for two of these cameras, so I uninstalled the second camera. The original camera again works fine. My existing doorbell wiring measures at 21.6 VAC. I am waiting for a 16V 30VA transformer to arrive before I attempt another installation of the second camera.

So far so good
This is my third doorbell camera. Tried Blink and google nest 2nd gen wired. Both did not satisfied, Blink requires batteries almost every month even though it is wired (stupid design). Too bad I passed the returning date. Amazon not willing to refund even though it was a false advertising regarding the “Wired power”. Anyways.. Google nest sucks without subscription, and doesn’t alert your phone with a special tone when someone rings your bell (what’s the point?). Besides that my google was defected, they refused to send me a replacement, and Amazon refused to give me the same deal I bought from Black Friday so was forced to return for a refund. So far Lorex is doing all the job well. No subscription required, no replacing batteries. However, I don’t get much motion detection at night, example when I return home driving into my driveway, no motion alert, even my sensitive setting is set to 4 out of 5. Finger crossed till the end of this month before the returning date. Overall, I feel like this doorbell is a keeper.
