I purchased these specifically for use with my laser engraver, and I could not be happier with how beautifully they engrave. The contrast is stunning. The natural dark slate turns a soft, crisp light gray when engraved, which makes even fine line detail pop. I’ve engraved botanical designs, animals, intricate line work, and geometric pieces, and every single one came out clean and sharp. I have purchased a lot of slate coasters to use for laser engraving. Slate coasters are a natural product and there will always be imperfections. Overall this was an ok batch. I scrub the surface of slate before engraving to remove any manufacturing residue and flakes. These were fairly clean. They were wrapped in pairs in bubble wrap. There was no damage. These are about 3 7/8" square. Most had consistent borders. There were some that were different thicknesses. Most were about 3/16", some were close to 1/4". About 10 of them had surface defects with quartz particles or divots.
