I like my phone cases to be either ultra slim or proper rugged.After dropping my Pixel 4a and cracking the screen while it was wearing a Spigen "Thin Fit" case (very nice looking slim case, but not much protection) I wanted a chunky, rugged case for my new Pixel 7a.I have never owned an Otterbox case before but knew the name as a high end product manufacturer. When I saw this case on offer at half price, I thought I would give it a go despite there only being one 4 star rating (no review) on Amazon at the time.I looked on You tube for video reviews and found a couple. Really not many on there at all. Both of the reviews said the case was excellent despite them obviously not getting the case to fit properly!This is a two part case. You need to fit the inner rubber piece around the phone before clipping the hard plastic shell around the outside. This second part needs a bit of care to ensure it fits the rubber moulding correctly. This is not difficult to fit, but is not a case you will be able to slip on and off easily if you like to keep anything in the back of your case.If you like the rugged look, once on, this case looks amazing! Nice and chunky, giving lots of protection to the device inside. It also feels really good in the hand. Yes, the hard shell is quite slippery to the touch however there is more than enough of the grippy rubber available inspiring confidence while handling your phone.There are two little "feet" on the back that prevent the device from skidding around too much when you put it down on a table. The buttons also retain a great clicky feel through the case. There is a nice cut out at the top so the speaker is not covered in any way.One of the points that sold this case to me was the little dust flap on the USB C port. Both of my last two phones ended up having trouble with the USB C ports due to pocket lint and debris getting inside which meant careful cleaning with a needle or pin! Hopefully, not anymore! The little flap is easy enough to pull down out of the way to reveal a fairly large aperture to connect a charging lead.Of course, you may not even need to mess with the flap as the 7a supports wireless charging and despite this case being quite chunky, this still works fine!if you are a fan of rugged cases, I am sure you will love the Otterbox Commuter.At full price, it is beyond what I would normally spend and would probably have gone for something else. However, if you can get it at a discounted rate, I would certainly recommend it for the Pixel 7a.

It adds bulk but it feels very solid as a result. Very pleased with the fit. Very happy at £22.

Keeps your phone safe

Managed to drop my phone face down on a specifically spikey rock that was taller than the case is thick, but other than that freak mishap my phone has survived many drops and throws in this case just fine. I like the plug cover on the bottom but can see that some might find it fiddly / annoying.My only issue is it's not as secured to the phone as cases I've tried in the past - very easy to remove the phone. I personally like them locked in 😂.

This, combined with tempered glass screen and camera protectors have made my Pixel impregnable - so far. I've dropped it many times, and the raised edges have saved the screen and cameras from any impact hard enough to damage the protectors which are sacrificial anyway.I know some people love the look of their phone as it comes out of the box. For people who want something a bit more practical, the Otterbox is a firm favourite.

Clumsy husband here - These are a must-have for mobile phones that will be used in the workplace. The phone is almost guaranteed to survive a routine drop. Also the case makes dropping less likely, due to its tactile nature. It is the perfect compromise between rugged and usability. The buttons still work, and there is no built-in film over the screen, which is a good thing as they don't really help. A very good value product and money well spent. Also it flattens out the (imo) ugly camera blob on the back of the Pixel range.

This case is solid as a rock. Dropped my phone out of the car and previous cases would have had some damage on them but not this.Love OtterBox and would only ever buy their cases now
