"Powerful, Compact, and Reliable – A Beast of a Vacuum!"
I've been using the Vacmaster Professional Beast Series 5-Gallon 5.5 Peak HP Wet/Dry Vacuum for a few months now, and I can confidently say it's one of the best shop vacs I've ever owned. Performance: The suction power is outstanding. Whether it's sawdust, drywall debris, or water from a small leak, this vacuum handles it all with ease. The 5.5 Peak HP motor lives up to the "Beast" name – it's incredibly strong and efficient. Portability & Size: Despite its powerful motor, the unit is compact and lightweight enough to move around the garage, workshop, or even up stairs without any hassle. The 5-gallon tank is a great middle ground — large enough for most cleanup jobs but still easy to empty and store. Build Quality: Very solid and durable construction. The hose and attachments feel sturdy, not flimsy like with some other brands. The cord length is generous, and the onboard storage for tools is super convenient. Noise Level: For a vacuum this powerful, it’s surprisingly quiet. It’s not silent, of course, but it’s much less shrill than other wet/dry vacs I’ve used. Versatility: I love that it handles both wet and dry messes seamlessly. It's been a game changer for car detailing and cleaning up around the house and garage. Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a compact, powerful, and well-built wet/dry vac, the Vacmaster Beast is a fantastic choice. It's earned a permanent place in my workshop. Highly recommend!

Excellent performer, extremely good suction.
Just used my new vacuum for the first time. Here are my thoughts: has outstanding suction. It is marketed as such and it is true. It is made very well and with the caster wheels on it moves across the floor smoothly when you pull it. The extra dust bag for finer dust is nice, as is the noise refractor, that really does make a difference. A couple of things that could be better. Because of the high suction power, the accessory tools (crevice, car tool, etc) get pulled off the hose. It would be nice to have them screw on like the hose does to the vacuum. Also wished it had a drain for water instead of having to turn vac over to empty. But these are minor complaints as I doubt you would be able to find another smaller tank vac that does as good a job as this one. And cost is reasonable. Larger vacs are around the same price, but I considered how much more a 8, 10, or 12 gallon would weigh and thought this would be easier to handle. I researched a lot of tank vacs and chose this because of its high rating and the power it had for a small tank vac. Don't be fooled by the size of this vacuum. It is very capable. Hose and power cord are long enough for most uses. Also has a a good warranty. Highly recommended.

Great value and small footprint
Great shop vac. I was replacing my 20 year old shop vac and wanted something smaller that is easy to move around but has plenty of suction. This little guy is perfect. It has a small footprint, it’s really powerful and surprisingly quiet. I can easily carry it around and the accessories fit well on the unit. It has very little to assemble so it is ready to go out of the box. I think it’s a great value for the money. I hope it will last me another 20 years!

Great suction for a compact shopvac!!! Highly recommend!
We initially purchased a Bauer 6 gal 4hp shopvac based on the glowing reviews, but returned it after three uses (I honestly didn't understand the high ratings because our stick vacuum had better suction). So we purchased the Beast 5 gal 5.5 hp shop vac also based on the great reviews. THIS SHOPVAC DIDN'T DISAPPOINT! It has strong suction that will pick up larger chunks and you don't have to put the nozzle right over it to get sucked up. It's nowhere near as loud as the Craftsman shopvac we had years ago (that was an excellent shopvac, but too large for our needs right now). This shopvac is compact in size, easier on the ears, and has great suction!!! And I really like the nozzle they include for vacuuming your car! The ONLY COMPLAINT is that they do not give you an additional extension wand because you have to bend over the entire time to vacuum. I don't understand why Vacmaster refuses to include two wands so people can stand upright to vacuum. Everyone else seems to include the correct number of extension wands. So be prepared to purchase an additional wand. The hose is 1-7/8" so you'll need to order extension wands in that size.

vacmaster vacuum
The Vacmaster Professional Beast Series VFB511H 0201 is a 5-gallon wet/dry vacuum designed for rugged, heavy-duty tasks. With a 5.5 peak HP motor and a generous 5-gallon tank capacity, this unit is marketed as a versatile tool for both household and workshop use. While it delivers solid performance for its size, potential buyers should be aware that the “kinda loud” reputation it carries is more than an afterthought—it’s a defining trait that may warrant consideration. Key Features and Performance Power and Suction: The VFB511H delivers 5.5 peak HP, which translates to strong suction for both dry debris and wet spills. It handles tasks like sucking up water after a flood, absorbing fine dust from woodworking, or clearing pet hair with decent efficiency. The motor’s power is notable, especially when compared to entry-level shop vacs, though the peak HP specification should be taken with a grain of salt (as is common in the industry; actual continuous HP is lower). 5-Gallon Tank Capacity: The 5-gallon reservoir is roomy enough for moderate cleanup jobs, minimizing the need for frequent emptying. The tank’s design includes a user-friendly emptying mechanism, which is a welcome feature for wet messes. The unit also comes with a standard accessories kit: a crevice tool, dusting brush, and a 24-inch flexible hose. Despite the hose’s brevity, it’s adequate for most tasks, though users may appreciate a longer hose for extended reach. Build Quality and Design: The VFB511H feels sturdy, with a plastic tank that’s durable but not immune to cracks over time (common to most shop vacs). The handle is firm and ergonomic for portability, and the unit’s compact size makes it easy to store in a garage or utility closet. A non-motorized carry handle and lack of wheels may be a downside for those needing to move it frequently across uneven surfaces. Noise Level – The Big Drawback: The most glaring aspect of this vac is its noise. The VFB511H is undeniably loud, rivaling the decibel levels of many industrial-grade vacuums. While it’s not as deafening as a chainsaw, operating it for extended periods requires hearing protection, especially in enclosed spaces. The noise stems from the motor’s high-speed operation and minimal sound-dampening features. For users in small workshops, home offices, or who work alongside others, this could be a significant drawback. Pros and Cons Pros: Strong suction power for a 5-gallon wet/dry vac. Capable of handling both wet and dry messes with ease. Sturdy build with a user-friendly emptying system. Affordable for the class, making it a good value for budget-conscious buyers. Cons: Excessively loud, potentially uncomfortable during prolonged use. Hose length is on the shorter side. Plastic tank construction feels less premium than metal alternatives. No advanced features like HEPA filtration or a telescoping wand. Verdict: Power vs. Comfort The Vacmaster VFB511H is a reliable workhorse for heavy-duty cleanup, particularly for users who prioritize suction power and capacity over quiet operation. Its 5-gallon tank is ideal for moderate jobs, and the 5.5 peak HP motor ensures it can tackle tough messes. However, the noise level is a dealbreaker for environments where sound sensitivity is a concern. If you’re a DIY enthusiast, contractor, or need a vac for infrequent but intense tasks, it’s a solid choice. But if you require a quieter unit for regular use in shared spaces, consider models with sound-dampening tech (e.g., Shop-Vac Ultra-Quiet). Final Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5/5) A capable, budget-friendly shop vac, but its loudness could limit its appeal for noise-conscious users.

high quality, high suction power
relatively small, so it can be stored and moved around the house easily. i had to take a 3/4" block of wood, place it between each of the two plastic wheels, and bang it pretty hard with a hammer to get the casters to seat properly. Also i was intially baffled by the two U shaped steel brackets for hanging the hose. you scrunch them together and insert so each end is just underneath the white plastic washer...if they are loose and flopping around, that is not inserted properly. you need a phillips screwdriver to istall the carrying handle. i inserted the two screws and jiggled them around until the screws were sticking out the bottom of the hole. then with the screwdriver inserted, i pushed one side of the handle in while screwing. after partially seated, i did the same with the 2nd screw on the other side of the handle. If you have a magnetic tipped phillips screwdriver, it probably would have gone easiier, as you can insert the screw after both ends of the handle had been pushed all the way in. hose is a little stiff. I will probably buy a foam prefilter for the corrogated paper filter to help it to last longer. all in all, i am quite happy with the vacuum's performance. maybe the only drawback is the two snaps that hold the top to the bottom are plastic. i wonder, years down the road, if they will fail?

Powerful vacuum
Have had this for several weeks and it’s been a great vacuum. Love the long cord, great for vacuuming vehicle. Lots of power.

Powerful and small so great for the home garage.
Great little unit. However had to return the first one to Amazon due to a broken inlet. I tried to just get a replacement piece from Vacumaster (so I could very easily fix it myself) and sent emails and photos but received absolutely no response so I had to return the entire unit for replacement. Crazy bad money loosing service.

Exactly what I needed
I was looking for a reliable, portable, light shop vac that has a decent hose length and as much suction as possible and ended up buying this Vacmaster "Beast." I'm really happy with this vacuum and it's exactly what I wanted. So, in terms of each of those things I was looking for: Portable and light - this vacuum is easy to pick up and carry. It doesn't have wheels, but I have a much larger shop vac with wheels so I didn't need that. In fact, I prefer this because I can hold it in one hand while on a step ladder or walk around with it easily (things I can't do with my larger shop vac). It has a 5 gallon chamber, meaning it is quite compact. Decent hose length - mine came with a 7 foot hose and various attachments. Perfect for what I wanted. Strong suction - this is rated at 5.5 HP which is just as strong as my larger shop vac and stronger than the Dyson I use inside. No problem picking up debris and great for vacuuming a car. You can also reverse the hose and use this as a blower. Reliable - so far, so good. It seems well-built and time will tell. I've had it for a few months. Overall, it's a great little shop vac!

Upgraded 3 Star to 5 Star Rating
I had originally left a 3 star review on this item, not because it's not an excellent vacuum, nor because the seller didn't live up to their promises, but because it is on the UK Amazon site, but comes from Florida and is 120V rather than 240 and I thought it valuable for other UK buyers to be aware of this. I did not think the seller was purposely trying to mislead. They have since responded to me thanking me for the feedback, stating they are making improvements to clear up any confusion and presumably point out that a transformer will be required for European use. Consequently I have upgraded my rating to 5 Star.
