Excellent and really easy to use shaving oil
Forget messy shaving foam and greasy cream that needs to be rinsed off your face. This oil is marvellous. Five drops on the fingertips, rub lightly on the wet face and you have a lightly lubricated surface for a really good shave. It does not need rinsing after and leaves a fresh, natural aroma – not like the poisonous and artificial smell of many mass-produced creams. One small bottle also lasts for ages.

The best shaving oil I've tried
An excellent shave, no drag or soreness, long lasting, economical in use. I use 4 drops rather than the suggested 3, so I guess it could be even more economical... Over the years I've tried many different brands of shaving oil, but I've settled on this one and now been using it for some 10 years. It's excellent, if a little pricey. Recommended. Hope this helps.

Shaving oil
I prefer shaving oil to shaving foam. It’s not for everyone but definitely worth trying.

Good value. Excellent product. Arrived quickly and well packaged.
Great stuff. Been using Shave Secret for years and decide to go back to Somersets for a change. This large bottle gives great value. Lasts for ages. Scent is excellent. Don't need to use any aftershave products when shaving with oil.

Get Somersets while you can.
Exactly as ordered and so, so quickly delivered. Full marks. I was keen to build up a stock of these as Somersets seems to have gone out of business.

Not the Original. Poor marketing or lowered quality? You decide.
Not sure whether this is evidence of an extremely confused marketing strategy, or a distinct reduction in product quality. You decide. I started using Somersets' "Original Shaving Oil Plus" some years ago. As per the marketing, 3-4 drops was sufficient. I then drifted into dry shaving for some years, but came back to wet shaving last year. I continued to use the same bottle but needed to replace it in June of this year. I bought this product: believing it to be the same product (albeit without the "Plus" designation). The bottle was actually labelled "Maximum Glide Original". Same product? Or mis-representation? I now find that it requires at least double the amount to be applied to achieve the same result. However, it makes the same "3 drop" claim as before. So, is this a sign that the Company has lowered the quality of the product? Have they subtly changed the name and applied it to a different formulation? Or is it simply poorly executed marketing? Either way, it's not as good, or economic, as the "Original"
