New Balance KV890 Hook-and-Loop Running Shoe (Infant)

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disorder) runs in my family. I remember growing up and getting budget shoes because we didn't have much money. But when my brother was breaking bones in his feet repeatedly, the doctor told my parents that they needed to get him some good quality shoes. It always stuck with me and when my niece was born with OI, I started researching what were the best shoes for toddlers. There are other good brands out there as well, but I chose New Balance for the first set of shoes that I bought her last Christmas (when she was 16 months) partly because I was familiar with and loved the brand's adult sizes and partly because of the good reviews for their toddler shoes. Nora and her parents loved that first set of shoes. By the time her 2nd birthday rolled around she had long outgrown them. I was visiting when another toddler came to play one day shortly before Nora's birthday and the other girl had taken off her New Balance shoes and Nora immediately started to try on the other girl's shoes. It's true that my niece loooooves shoes, but I thought it was a good sign that she particularly loves New Balance as I had already ordered this pair for her birthday. When she opened this pair up, it didn't get quite the squeal of delight that her Minnie Mouse coloring book did, but she wanted help putting them on immediately and didn't take them off for the rest of the evening. I will probably be getting her another pair of New Balance shoes for Christmas.

I purchased a wide and this fits my son's foot well. These are great shoes for my son to run around and play in. I like that they are lightweight and don't weigh him down since he is still new to walking. I also love the orange color. They add a fun pop of color to his feet.Update: Now that my son has been wearing these shoes for a couple of months I've noticed that the material on the shoes have relaxed and the strap now reaches all the way across his foot and secures on the side of the shoe as it should. These shoes have held up great to my son's less than gentle playing in them. I would definitely order these again!

My daughter has chubby little feet, and I had a hard time finding shoes that fit. I got the Rainbow color in size 5W and they were great. I believe these shoes were the reason why my daughter started walking--she seemed more confident in them and made a lot of progress on her gross motor skills since wearing them. As she got bigger, I order the gray/pink color in size 6W and fit perfect as well. Just a note for all of the reviewers saying the strap is short--when I first bought them I had to pull the strap on each of the zig-zags to tighten them and get enough strap to make it over to the velcro closure, but the strap stretches to the right length with just a couple of wears. I've received so many compliments that these are just the cutest sneakers.

In my opinion, you can't get a better athletic shoe for a toddler. We have had a 2.5 yr old in New Balance shoes from a size 6 through 7 and as wobbly as a toddler can get, these shoes help her keep her footing. Also, they are so well made and stylish we have one pair for getting dirty outside and another that can get as dirty as she can get them. Some may not be interested in spending this amount on a toddler shoe but if you are on the fence, they are worth every penny! They are built to last so when your child outgrows them, they will still probably be in great enough shape to donate to someone less fortunate.

New balance shoes are great for kids and the wider option is great for toddles with chubier feet, like my son. This particular model has an elastic band that will not allow it completly expand so the foot to be easily inserted (like other models), which can be a challenge depending on the mood of the kid.That is why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Once the foot is on, it will not come off and my son seems to find it very comfortable.

Worth every penny! My daughter ruined her previous pair of cheaper shoes within a week. I decided to spend a little more and get her something that would hopefully last. These are great!! I got her the wide size just because it was cheaper... She doesn't have wide feet, but they seem to fit her perfect. Perhaps the regular sizing wouldn't have fit quite as well.I have had no problems with loose straps or anything as other reviews have mentioned.I highly recommend these! Spend a little extra on the real brand that will last. And these are super cool looking

Although I wasn't quite expecting the spiderman motiff, these shoes seem to be very comfortable for my 3yr old. I buy NB for myself and my husband, so it's great that I can give my son the same comfort and quality. He hasn't worn them outside too much to play, but I don't see anything that would lead me to believe there are any quality issues. I also really like having a velcro closure. He can almost get them on by himself, I just have to adjust the laces, and he can definitely take them off on his own. I'll keep buying NB in the future unless quality becomes an issue.

Bought these for my granddaughter. Bought her size 4 and they were a little big on her but she had a little room to grow. She has chubby, wide feet and these stretched comfortably on her. And they were easy to get on which I was discovering that it was difficult to get a lot of baby shoes on chubby feet! She is 9 months old and just started to walk so these have really helped with support and balance. They are super cute and have so many colors that they go with everything!
