THE SUNDAY TIMES AND NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER WINNER OF THE GOODREADS AWARD FOR BEST CRIME AND THRILLER 2023 SEQUEL OF THE HOUSEMAID, SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE As he continues showing me their incredible penthouse apartment, I have a terrible feeling about the woman behind closed doors. But I can't risk losing this job – not if I want to keep my darkest secret safe . . . It's hard to find an employer who doesn't ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want. It's almost perfect. But I still haven't met Mrs Garrick, or seen inside the guest bedroom. I'm sure I hear her crying. I notice spots of blood around the neck of her white nightgowns when I'm doing laundry. And one day I can't help but knock on the door. When it gently swings open, what I see inside changes everything.... That's when I make a promise. After all, I've done this before. I can protect Mrs. Garrick while keeping my own secrets locked up safe. Douglas Garrick has done wrong. He is going to pay. It's simply a question of how far I'm willing to go.... An unbelievably twisty read that will have you glued to the pages late into the night. Anyone who loves The Woman in the Window, The Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train will be completely hooked! Review: A great read! - After reading The Housemaid, I immediately had to continue with The Housemaid’s Secret, and it was just as amazing. The author does such a great job of taking readers on a suspenseful journey full of mystery, drama, and unexpected twists. Every chapter kept me hooked, and I was constantly surprised by what happened next. I love the way Freida McFadden writes — her storytelling pulls you in so completely that it’s hard to stop reading. Both books were exciting, intense, and impossible to put down. Now I’m counting down the days until The Housemaid Wedding comes out in June. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next! Review: New York City isn't that dangerous - I liked the book, great twist as always. But seriously, what part of the Bronx did Millie live in that she thought she'd be raped and/or mugged everyday. The truth is if she was supposedly from Brooklyn, she would know that after living in NYC for a few months or years you get to know everyone and vice versa and they look out for you like family. No way she would be harmed in her own Bldg and no one would come out to jump that dude or blame her. Absolute BS. Anyway aside from the blatant misrepresentation of the Bronx the book was a good, quick read.

COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN YALL!!!
The Housemaid’s Secret is the kind of psychological thriller that knows exactly what it is: fast, twisty, and designed to keep you reading “just one more chapter” until it’s suddenly 2 a.m. This sequel leans even harder into tension than the first book, with Millie finding herself pulled into another dangerous domestic situation that feels calm on the surface but increasingly unsettling underneath. The pacing is tight, and Freida McFadden does a solid job of layering suspicion—just when you think you’ve figured out who’s manipulating whom, the story shifts again. Some twists land better than others, but the overall momentum never really lets up. Where the book really works is in its compulsive readability. The short chapters and constant mini-reveals make it easy to fly through, and the stakes feel personal rather than overly complicated. On the flip side, readers looking for deep psychological realism or subtle character development may find some moments a bit melodramatic or conveniently timed. Still, as a thriller meant to entertain and surprise, it delivers. It’s not trying to reinvent the genre—it’s leaning into the familiar “domestic secrets + unreliable trust + escalating danger” formula and executing it with confidence. If you enjoyed the first book, this one is a natural continuation that keeps the adrenaline going.

Its good enough to finish but a bit predictable
The book came in great condition. This 2nd book in the trilogy is not near as good as the first one but still pretty good. Pretty predictable after you have read the first one.

Not what I expected, but still hyped for the last one!
Millie? Nosy as hell. FFS 😤😂 Now listen, Enzo and Brock? They carried this whole damn story on their backs like saints. I genuinely don’t know how I made it through without rage-quitting—probably because they were the only ones who remembered how to use their brains. Bless them 🙏 I actually enjoyed the first book, even though I barely remembered half of it (oops). I walked in thinking this sequel would serve the same energy... aaand nope. I was wrong. So very wrong 🫠 Was it bad? Nah. But it sure as hell wasn’t what I signed up for. My happy expectations? Shattered. 🫥💔 Let’s talk about the leads. Millie and Wendy were both—how do I put this gently?—disasters. Millie had potential back in book one, I liked her! But four years later she’s supposed to be the genius of the group... and instead, she’s out here making decisions that made me want to throw the book at a wall. And Wendy?? Don’t even get me started. Every scene with her had me screaming internally. Girl, get it together. 😩 That said… Freida McFadden, you sneaky queen 👑 Just when I think I’ve figured everything out, she drops a bomb outta nowhere and leaves me speechless. It’s what she does best—and I lowkey live for it. I was warned this one was the “least favorite” of the trilogy, and yeah, I get it now. But even with the frustration, I’m still hyped for the last one. Just not yet—I need a breather and a shot of tequila first 😅📖💀

I Love This Book!
I'm so excited when there's a series that has a second novel like this! McFadden packs the heat in this Housemaid sequel. I love Millie's energy and I always love to root for her. Once again this story took twists and turns I never saw coming. It was a very fast story that kept me absolutely hooked. I believe I finished this book in two days which is one of the fastest on the year for me. I recommend this book for people who need an easy, palate cleansing story, that will keep your heart racing.

Twisting Roller Coaster Ride
Millie is hired by a wealthy family to cook and clean their immaculate penthouse. Douglas Garrick has warned Millie that his wife is very ill and should never be disturbed. Wendy Garrick stays locked in her room and doesn’t even emerge for meals. After saving a friend in an abusive situation, Millie begins to recognize some alarming signs in the Garrick household and cannot resist attempts to communicate with Wendy, in spite of explicit instructions to never approach the door. Once again, McFadden had me gripping the pages of this fast paced, twisting, roller coaster ride. This went in so many unexpected directions, I literally could not put it down. While this is a fully fleshed out story that can be read on its own, I appreciated having the background from The Housemaid. Millie continues to be the tough, resilient woman I cheered for in the first book, so I can’t resist a peek over the fence at The Housemaid is Watching.

AMAZING !
I had Just gotten my kindle when I came across the first book.... I read it all in a few hours and couldn't put it down. I was so invested in the story. When I saw there was going to be a second book, I pre- ordered it. The second it appeared on my kindle I read it ... again in a few hours and couldn't put it down... and then a few weeks later read it again. These books are amazing and are an absolute MUST for anyone who loves thrillers. Her writing is enthusiastic and extremely thrilling to read and keeps you wanting more . There is always an unthinkable turn that throws you off your seat. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers or wants a bit of excitement- you wont regret it.
