Shapes

This is a beautiful album ! The 'feel' of it is very soothing, so I currently love to put it on when I want to mentally wind down, or when I need a gentle start to my day. It's perfect for that !Dominic Miller's plays the classic guitar beautifully on all of these tracks, but not in a way aimed to necessarily show off his guitaristic chops for their own sake but in a rather 'subdued', understated way. (although anyone who's ever picked up a guitar will know what it takes to make it sound like that). So if you're looking for classic guitar 'fireworks', this isn't the right album. Aside from his own classic track "Shape of my Heart", these are Dominic Miller's personal, 'updated' interpretations of this classic repertoire, arranged in a modern, gently-flowing style supported by an orchestra as well as, partly, a rhythm section. You will recognize Miller's refined guitaristic 'voice' on the classic guitar here as it can be heard a lot on Sting's more recent albums.Lovely lovely album !! ...the perfect soundtrack to enjoying your first cup of tea after work, or to wind down before bed-time.Standout track to me, aside from "Shape of my heart" (on which Sting sings the lead vocal) is that stirring track on which the magnificent Placido Domingo sings with his glorious tenor voice.Total recommendation !

Really lovely, relaxing sound. Dominic's playing is beautiful and rich, supported by other musicians. Great for background music.

Easy listening guitar music to relax with .

I love classical guitar music and Dominic Miller is a gifted player. I bought a copy of this CD from my local library and unfortunately that copy was badly scratched and so I ordered this copy so that I could hear all of the CD. I will be ordering more of his CDs soon.

Having enjoyed this album for some years I purchased another copy as a gift to friends [35th Wedding Anniversary] as one of them is quite a keen guitarist and the other [like me] loves Avia Maria-Moya Brennan's rendition on this album is hauntingly beautiful.

Looking forward to new releases as the interpretation of melodies so good with Shapes

I have loved this cd since it was fist launched. I have bought this copy to give as a gift. Dominic Miller is an extraorinary guitarist and has taken these classical pieces to a new deminsion.

I bought this cd because of a particular piece of music played on classic FM. I was a little dissapointed with some of the other pieces on this recording. (It was the violin partita in G Minor bt J S Bach which was played on classic FM)
