Appears to be an issue with the Black vinyl version......
I have the Milky coloured one (Barcode: 002448898470)Excellent release. No need to discuss the music- it's "Bone Machine"!No warping, scuffs or marks Plays silent between tracks. On my Marantz/ audio technica system this release sounds certainly as good (maybe better - jury still out!) than my original Europe 1992 release, but that is only my opinion.Seeing a lot of negative reviews for the Black vinyl version. I can confirm this copy of the Milky vinyl version is flawless.100% recommended.

Terrible "remastering"
How on earth can they say that these 2023 reissues are "remastered"? They sound dreadful! Really weak and thin-sounding, with low volume...nothing has been punched-up or brightened. The original CD of "Bone Machine" (mastered by Bob Ludwig) sounds better than this 2023 CD! They should have hired Ludwig to do all these CD remasters, rather than this guy from Bernie Grundman Mastering....what is it with this weird phenomenon now with remastering albums so they sound QUIETER than they did on their original CD releases from years ago?! Is it just fashionable or what? People complained about the "loudness wars" and all that ten or fifteen years ago ; ever since then, labels seem to have shied away from mastering stuff so it sounds louder (and what the hell is wrong with music sounding louder? Why should you have to turn the volume all the way up these days just to HEAR what you're listening to?) What a wasted opportunity with these re-releases...lots of Waits fan have been waiting for these and they're such a let-down. For "Swordfishtrombones", "Rain Dogs" and "Frank's Wild Years", seek out the 2008 Japanese remasters ; the difference between those and these 2023 CDs is COLOSSAL. (There were no 2008 remasters done for "Bone Machine" or "The Black Rider", sadly.) Those were REAL remasters, providing you with a brand-new listening experience ; the mastering was so good on those Japanese CDs it was like hearing the albums again for the first time. They were louder and brighter than the original Island CDs ; a vast improvement in every way. That's how these 2023 CDs SHOULD have sounded. Without doubt, the most disappointing reissues in recent memory.

There is no hope….
Half way through side A the dreaded ticks and pops started, which slowly but surely thwarted my enthusiasm for sitting down to listen to this album on vinyl. FYI the vinyl was professionally cleaned but without any real improvement. Avoid like the plague, or be prepared for a disappointment. Amazon get ready for a load of returns on this (and no doubt on many others), because the way vinyl pressings are these days, if noise it’s not the culprit, the dreaded warp will be. I will be returning my copy and I don’t see any point in bothering with a replacement. I would much rather wait for a 2 LP version (hopefully one day) that this album is crying out loud for.

UNLISTENABLE
The media could not be loaded. UMG should be ashamed of the subpar quality of these releases. It's disheartening to see such iconic albums (mastered beautifully) from Tom Waits, including "Swordfishtrombones," "Rain Dogs," "Frank's Wild Years," "The Black Rider," and this one, suffer from glaring issues right out of the box. These records are plagued by excessive surface noise, loud pops, deep scratches, debris, noticeable bumps on the record surface, and a white discharge. The worst vinyl experience. DO NOT BUY any of these, as they all display the same issues.

Great album, poor pressing
GZ Media have really messed up this whole series of Tom Wait’s reissues. They’re not exactly cheap and full of clicks even after a clean. Back they go.

Digitally remumbled for inaudibility
I stood holding a copy in a well-known music store reading all the one star reviews. They couldn't all be wrong. Could they? But I still bought it and everything people have written about this dreadful black pressing is true. I lost my original copy in a house move and didn't want to part with three figures to replace it, perhaps I should have. That said it is crusty old Tom so it has a sense of despair about it, although not intended. Believe the anti-hype .. it is diabolical.

Avoid
All has been said before but avoid these so called remastered like a contagious illness.I've never had to crank up the volume so high just to hear a muffled mix of sound. Also as has been stated crackles and pops everywhere.Stick to the CDs

Not sure why the reviews are so negative
I’ve seen so many complaints about this reissue. Scratches, low fidelity, flimsy vinyl have been brought up so much that my Fiancée decided not to get me this record for Christmas. Bone Machine isn’t just my favorite Tom Waits record, it’s one of my favorite records ever and to hear that it was finally reissued was so exciting to me that I bought it the day after Christmas, deciding to ignore the warnings of the reviews here.I am pleased to say this record sounds absolutely beautiful. No warp, scratches, and a nice 180 gram pressing. While I do wish that there was a 2 disc reissue, I really don’t have anything negative to say about my copy of this amazing record. Job well done

On Vinyl!
Had a CD version of this TW album and always wanted it on vinyl. Great songs! Great pressing!A bit more gain could have been used in the mastering, but thankfully, the sound is clean and dynamic - just juice up the volume dial a touch more.

To wydanie winylowe, to jakieś nieporozumienie. Poza tym jest ciętę bardzo cicho a podkręcenie głośności go nie otwiera, przeciwnie - uwypukla wady. Pomijam fakt, że jest głośne zarówno czarne jak i kolorowe. Podobnie jest z "The Black Rider". Trafiło mi się ciche ale co z tego, jak pozbawione jest życia. Zmarnowana szansa, szkoda, może kiedyś ktoś poprawi ten błąd.
