Whose Tracks Are These?: A Clue Book of Familiar Forest Animals [Nail, James, Skudder, Hyla] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Whose Tracks Are These?: A Clue Book of Familiar Forest Animals Review: perfect for ages 6-7 - My 8 year old twin boys really enjoyed puzzling out of the story the first read. I read it with each of them separately and provided footprint stamps for them to put in their zoology journals once they figured out which animal was described. They listened as I read it with their 6 and 3 year old sisters but weren't as interested after the first one or two readings (my kids generally will listen to the same book over and over but the puzzle aspect was gone). My first grade 6 year old didn't get the animals quite as quickly as the third graders but enjoyed the challenge and surprises when she was wrong. Good illustrations and writing. Perfect length. Recommend for elementary read-aloud and as an introduction to animal habit. Review: I love the guessing game premise of the book - I love the guessing game premise of the book, with the kid on every page observing the animals. I read it to my kindergarteners during our forest biome unit and they LOVED it! I did an animal each day while we convened on the carpet before our morning routine and they each had a turn to guess which animal it was. Super fun!

Great find!
I love this book! Each page gives detailed clues about a different animal. Readers have to use reasoning to identify the correct animal. This book was used during an elementary literacy night and enjoyed by all!

Fun family book
Fun book to share with kids. The kids enjoyed the clues and trying to guess the animal. I liked that the kindle version allowed me to zoom in on the tracks. It would have been better on the kindle edition if we could see the tracks on the screen with the clues. Pictures were okay. I would have liked more or close up of paw/appendage that left the track so we could compare. Overall fun educational book and game.

Beautifully thought out and presented.
I second the motion with most of the reviews I read. Best tracking book for young children I have seen yet. I love the idea of leaving little details on each page for children to notice and wonder about with their parents. I would urge parents to not be too quick to offer answers to all the little mysteries. Hints are good. Only one very slight downer. While I loved the way the artist depicted real species in the illustrations, I found the stylized nature of the drawings slightly disconcerting. A good parental approach would be to show alternate photos/illustrations or live examples of the species depicted to the child.

Fun and educational
We love this book! It’s fun and educational. I bought this book to replace one we had for so long that it fell apart - after taping it back numerous times.

Whose Tracks Are These?
This is perfect for my 4 year old grandson who is fascinated with the animal tracks he has been finding in the snow in his backyard. Great pictures of different animal tracks and story that gives clues and gives the child a chance to figure out what the animal is. Perfect for my little detective with his magnifying glass and wonderful imagination.
