Is this good for young children? What is the size of the largest and smallest doll?

Since my daughter was 3 years old she was interested in nesting dolls because her grandparents had some from Germany. She like taking them apart and putting them back together. She is 5 now and I decided she could care for her own nesting dolls. Maybe not all children would be as intrigued, but you know your kids best. The largest is 7.5 inches and the smallest is almost 1 inch. It's a really beautiful set. I recommend it.

How tall is the biggest doll?

I think it was at least 6 inches tall, I gave it to a grandchild for Christmas so it's not here for me to measure.
