Unmatched frequency coverage in a travel-friendly portable
The C. Crane Skywave SSB 2 is in a class by itself - a small, travel-sized portable that can tune Longwave, Mediumwave (the AM broadcast band), Shortwave (including both the broadcast and SSB bands), FM broadcasts, the VHF airband and NOAA weather stations. It runs on only 2 AA batteries (and can charge NiMH batteries internally). Ergonomics are not wonderful, no surprise for a tiny travel portable, but performance is quite good and the frequency coverage listed above is unmatched in other travel portables.

Great radio
Super radio. Works great. Reception is excellent! Well made and replacement parts are available. One of the high end radios on Amazon. The only drawback is it is also one of the most expensive in its class. If you make the decision to purchase this radio, you won’t be disappointed.

Great Radio!
This little radio is fantastic! I don't know how C. Crane managed to pack such versatility and power in such a small package, but I'm glad they did. This radio is a good as any desktop radio I've owned. And it's portable to boot! Buy and enjoy!

Overpriced
Good radio, perfoms fine, but way overpriced compared to the usual Chinese fare like Tecsun PL 330 or an XHDATA D 808. And for nearly 200 bucks, you can't throw in a couple of rechargeable batteries?Heck you can buy a Tecsun PL 990 for this money.Dinging two stars for the price, no batteries, and tinny audio.Anything you can pick up with this you can pick up with any of the radios above. Just another DSP radio. Considering keeping it because it's an American brand. Made in China like all the others. They just won't admit that.I collect and religiously use and love all radios...Buy a Tecsun 990, Eton Elite Executive, XHDATA 808. If you get any of the above you'll get better AM, or medium wave, reception due to every one of them having a larger internal ferrite bar.

Amazing Performance from this small radio
My unboxing of the CCrane was a little surprising because I was not expecting such a compact (tiny) radio. I installed batteries in this small radio and was amazed at the reception of this radio! I recently went through Hurricane Helene and lost power, internet, and cell/data on my phone. I found myself searching my house for a radio. The only radios I had barely received local am/fm stations under the best conditions. The issue you experience during a natural disaster is that local radio/tv broadcasts are not available. The CCrane receives am/fm stations from outside the area, not to mention NOAA, SSB, and SW.This radio is great to use daily or have as part of your DR kit.

Not worth the cost IMO
Very disappointed with this purchase. Not at all what I expected. I cannot agree that this tiny radio just cost me +$200. I have another radio that is equal in performance that I paid less than $40 for.
