Good for a beginner
This laser is super fun to use. I do wish I would have gotten the S1 or M1 Ultra over this, mostly for size purposes. The IR laser can do a very very shallow engraving on stainless steel, aluminum and brass but takes quite a bit of time. Especially compared to a regular fiber laser. The diode laser is where this machine shines. Especially because it's portable. It cuts thin wood, engraves wood nicely and marks anodized aluminum. Portraits come out amazing on this machine. The software has a nice polish to it, but it's lacking a lot (like the ability to do variable text). You're limited to how many passes you can do, it even limits lines per millimeter. This machine is lightburn compatible so I have ended up ditching XCS all together with this machine. Overall good for casual hobbiests, but after a few months this machine mostly sits on my shelf in favor of more powerful/compatible machines.

A good entry-level laser
Its a good laser for general marking. My primary use was business cards, laser engraved photos and keychains. I upgraded to the F1 ultra not long after getting the F1. I still use it while the F1 ultra is busy with the heavier work. Overall its a good entry level laser that is very capable for its size, the price is reasonable for a fiber laser, the software is user friendly for the most part. Having both a diode and fiber laser in a single package has its advantages. The size can be a limitation but its good enough for most things.

Professional Engraving Power in a Truly Portable Machine
We run both the xTool F2 Ultra and the xTool F1, and they each serve a very different but equally important role for us. The F2 Ultra handles our heavy production work, but the xTool F1 is outstanding for portability and mobile use. Being able to transport a laser engraver this easily and still get clean, professional results is a huge advantage. We use the F1 for on site engraving, events, quick jobs, and situations where bringing a full size machine is not practical. Despite its compact size, the F1 performs extremely well. Engraving quality is sharp and consistent across wood, leather, acrylic, and coated metals. The dual laser setup makes it flexible, and the lightning fast speed means you are not waiting around for small jobs to finish. Setup is quick, calibration is simple, and the workflow is smooth. It is the kind of machine you can take out of the case, set up, and start engraving without hassle. Build quality feels solid and confidence inspiring for something designed to be portable. Bottom line. The F1 is not a replacement for a large production machine like the F2 Ultra, but as a mobile, transportable laser engraver it is excellent. If you need professional results on the go, the xTool F1 delivers.

Inconsistent & lacking technical support
After about 8 months of ownership I would update this to 5 stars. Seems like the issues I was having was due to the coating I was trying to engrave. I was engraving black anodized aluminum which seemed to do well for 90% of runs but the other 10% it would barely make a mark. Perhaps an issue with the quality or consistency of my anodizing supplier. My other products are coated with a different coating that seems to have no problems engraving with the laser engraver. I am not using the rotary attachment even though they are cylindrical parts and it is working without an issue. Editing this from 2 stars to 4 stars. After I left a 2 star review the customer support seems to be much more willing to help and not just give copy and paste generic responses. I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue as I haven’t needed to use the machine as much lately. Original review: My application is engraving on black anodized aluminum cylindrical parts, with the engraving having to align with an existing logo on a finished part. I originally was not using the rotary attachment and it completed about 40 units no problem. Then it stated randomly not engraving thru the black anodize finish no matter how many passes I made. Then it would snap out of it and work fine. But the pieces that it didn’t engrave properly had to be trashed. I then hooked up the rotary attachment and it was working well for about the first 40 units and then it started acting up again. My process does 3 passes to complete the engraving. If it glitches on the first pass, it will never be able to redo and fix it. Something about it materially affects the surface that makes it impenetrable. I can run another same run right next to the failed first run and it will be perfect, so I know it is not an issue with my material or finish. I’ve now gone back to not using the rotary attachment as it has its own issues such as alignment of the existing logo makes it way more time consuming to line up and it started randomly introducing a curved effect. I’ve reached out to support, their phone for support does not work. You have to email them. So far the email response I’ve gotten for these issues has not been helpful, mainly just copy and paste generic help tips. It works great 95% of the time but the 5% that it doesn’t means I have to throw away a good price. I’ve had the unit for almost 30 days now, so I barley have put any miles on it. I’m on the fence about returning it for a refund within the 30 days.

Frustrating
It said it can engrave any metals but the settings does not include gold plated. The system says it is not available so you have to waste all kinds of products just trying to figure out what works. What works on one item might not work on another item either. Return policy stated we have 30 days to return but when you click to return it after already purchasing it, it says if used then they only give you 50% back if even. It will be based off the condition which in some ways I understand but in others how can you advertise it does all this engraving and cutting when there is no setting for it and a waste of so much materials and money. The return policy should state upfront right away if used in any way or open any bags, you won’t get full refund. When I try to cut wood it makes a fire and shuts off. I wasted so much wood. The filter fills up fast. I have tried this machine for less than a month and it wants me to replace filter already. It cost $109 to get new filter stuff. I read that we can wash it to get more life out of it which I did. Even with the air filter my room still smells like burnt wood. It’s not the easiest to line things up if you need it exactly in the middle for small items like jewelry. And if it is your first time like me using an engraver, to engrave on certain items you will need to buy an expensive spray to coat like glass or stainless steel in order for it to turn out. All the items I purchased this for is not working out and getting half my money back sucks so now I am just going to stick with it and see what I can do out of it to try and make money to pay for it. I am starting to realize now that all the YouTube I watched about the machine before I bought it they all got the machine for free from xtool so they obviously would say it’s amazing. So beware and don’t be like me. It’s not made out to be as amazing as you think it is.

Nice quality results
User friendly but definitely makes you want to get a larger one after numerous projects. But produces good quality stuff. Works great for small jobs so if you want to upgrade maybe better to save up for next level.

A Game-Changer for Laser Engraving Enthusiasts
I couldn’t be happier with the xTool F1! As someone who loves crafting and creating unique designs, this machine has been a total game-changer. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the quality and versatility it offers. The dual laser feature—10-watt diode and 2-watt infrared—is what truly sets it apart. Whether I’m engraving wood, marking gold and silver, or experimenting with different materials, it handles everything effortlessly. The precision is incredible, and I’ve been able to achieve crisp, professional-looking results on every project. The F1 is not only powerful but also user-friendly. The setup was straightforward, and the software is intuitive, even for someone who isn’t overly tech-savvy. It’s a joy to use, and I’ve found myself spending hours creating custom designs, from slate coasters to pet tags. The creative possibilities are endless, and it’s brought so much fun to my hobby. What I also love is how compact and sleek the design is—it doesn’t dominate my workspace but still feels robust and reliable. The build quality is solid, and it’s clear that xTool put a lot of thought into making this machine durable and long-lasting. One tip for future buyers: invest a little time in learning the software and experimenting with settings for different materials—it’s well worth it to unlock the full potential of this machine. Overall, the xTool F1 is worth every penny. It’s not just a laser engraver—it’s a creative powerhouse that’s reignited my passion for crafting. If you’re on the fence, take the leap. You won’t regret it!

I’ve had a fantastic experience with the XTool F1. The machine itself is incredibly efficient, precise, and perfect for my needs. It delivers high-quality results and is very easy to use. What truly sets XTool apart is their exceptional customer service. I had an issue with my original machine, and their support team—especially Wendy—was absolutely amazing.
