I'm an adult with issues with fidgeting and other stuff along those lines. This toy is nicely squishy, fun to play with, keeps my fingers in motion. Yes, it is pretty ugly. The pictures are accurate. It's not silent - it is literally like sand in a rubber casing so that's just what it sounds like (crunchy sounds). However, when I'm using it when I'm sitting alone at night and just maybe reading a book in one hand and this in the other, it's just perfect. It stretches and it's fun to try to get it back to it's original shape because the filling makes it 'stay' in the position you stretch it to. I like it a lot.
