I just built a firepit with a 36" outside diameter. I didn't want something that would cover the whole pit. I wanted to be able to cook and move wood in the fire without having to move the whole grill. Some very minor assembly (handles) was required. Plenty of cooking area and, to me, plenty strong.

We needed a grill top cover for our burn pit at our river camp. Our pit it quite large & we had been looking at several different options for something to go on the top of it so we can grill out over our wood fire. This works perfectly.

Well, I sure got a shock when I opened this package. Somehow, in my mind it opened up backwards to how it truly does. I was looking for a grill that would open UP on one side so more wood could be put in the fire pit easily. But, you have to take it off and it folds under itself. So buyer beware and read the description better than I did. It is an excellent grill. Very sturdy. Just was not what I had wanted. I will be using it but with much muttering over the difficult use of it. HaHa

My fire pit cooking grate arrived on time. The material, quality of workmanship, and price were as advertised. And this cooking grate displays hinges and can be opened from either side making it very convenient to use w/o having to remove the whole grate when adding wood or moving coals around. I expect this cooking grate to last many years and couldn’t be more happy with its value for my money.

So I bought this because I have a 36-in firing at the top of my brick fire pit. The firing measures at 36 in this thing however measures at about 35 and a quarter inch. Meaning it will not stay on a 36-in firing it will fall to the bottom of the fire pit and be completely useless every single time.

I am using this fire pit grill grate as an additional cooking space for pellet smoker. It is the perfect size to be mounted above my OEM grill surface to give me an additional 480 in sq of smoking surface area. I like the fact that the side handles are not welded on and can be either mounted using the included hardware or omitted, as in my case.

We bought this to replace our old fireplace cooking grill that was designed to fit over our round brick fireplace. It fits perfectly. It’s great to grill on and the cross bracing keeps it nice and stiff when you put a few steaks on.

It opens the wrong way. You can’t open it halfway while on fire pit unless you place it upside down. My husband didn’t want to return it. I would have had it been my choice.
