Rani Reports: on The Missing Millions

A highly enjoyable read!
I stumbled across Rani Reports on Amazon in my quest to find books for my 8-year-old mixed race half Scottish-half Mauritian English children with diverse characters identifying as female that they might be able to relate to. Imagine my delight as a second-gen Mauritian who grew up in the North of England to find something like this! My daughter was thrilled to read a book with a girl who also calls her grandma Nani, to read some Mauritian Creole words she knew and to see the recipe for Gateaux Piment. She really enjoyed the plot too and I was impressed with the style and pages I flicked though too. She found it funny and engaging. This is the type of book missing from my childhood! Highly recommend this book to all middle-graders whatever their background. We will be gifting it to her friends and cousins too and we can’t wait for Rani‘s next adventure!

Entertaining and puzzling in equal measures.
Raced through Gabrielle & Satish Shewhorak'sRani Reports on the Missing Millions. An entertaining mystery adventure filled with twisty puzzles, tricky adults and red herrings aplenty. Navya Raju's illustrations capture the joy & thrilling nature of the treasure hunt perfectly.Perfect for LKS2 as a class read. Ideal for children who are not ready for darker MG mysteries. This would be a wonderful spark for creating newspaper reports in class. A brilliant addition to any primary library. I absolutely loved it!

An exciting treasure hunt adventure story!
An exciting treasure hunt adventure with a fantastic protagonist - and her unforgettable gran! I loved spending time solving clues with Rani and her nani, and the hilarous parrot Cookie. With a diverse cast and a wonderfully fast pace, this story is huge fun from the first page to the satisfying end.
