Get By In Spanish

The book is good; you need to study it.If you are listening to the CD without the book, (in the car or when doing jobs), the CD is a disappointment.Although it obviously helps with pronunciation, there is not nearly enough repetition, not enough time to say your answers in Spanish, and no explanation of what some of the answers given in Spanish actually mean. So as a teaching aid, it is somewhat lacking.Sections are skimmed over, for example they "taught" all the numbers to over 1000 in five minutes flat! And no time for us to repeat or say any of them ourselves.I expected a BBC production to have far better educational content.I have gone back over sections again and again to help it sink in.Having purchased "Get by in Greek" on tape many years ago, my expectations were high. The latter has everything that the Spanish CD lacks.

Generally ok little package which is helping me learn a little Spanish. Both CD and book seem to cover all the basic stuff that you'll need on a trip to Spain. Unfortunately, the book and CD don't quite match so you can't follow the audio using the book. I, for one, would find it easy to remember things if I saw it and heard it at the same time. Another issue for me with the CD is that the phrases are only said once so, when they're coming thick and fast, it's a bit difficult to follow particularly when listening in the car. I would prefer it if, as with some other packages, they were repeated.

This is a useful tool for those who wish to speak Spanish rather than English whilst in Spain as a tourist. It is particularly useful to have the pronunciation explained and every phrase has its pronunciation and stresses shown. So you can't go too far wrong when you are not listening to the accompanying CD. Would recommend.

I have purchased spanish learning books before, but this one is very good indeed as it tells you how to pronounce the words which is very helpful indeed. The CD is very good too, however, I just wish it was in the same sequence as the book, because it does jump about a bit with the text in the book. On the whole an extremely useful book on how to learn and get by in spanish.

A well written, easy to follow and very clear introduction to Spanish. The inclusion of a CD to support the written word was excellent.Very cheap compared to other similar Spanish language books - another triumph for the BBC Language Department.

I purchased this on recommendation of tutor in basis Spanish classes and find it of great help.Well set out in sections and the phonetic spelling is very helpful as is the accompanying C D
