Nice E-book
Overall cool device, email forwarder works great, I use only this approach to move ebooks from PC to ebook.

This is a great basic e-reader
We wanted a basic e-reader without all of the additional stuff that a lot of them have. Didn't want Bluetooth, didn't want Internet, just wanted to read books. This one can work without ever being connected to the wifi and doesn't have any extra bells and whistles and that's exactly what we wanted, so it's great. Functionality is good, screen size is good, no backlight only front light is good, navigation is easy, battery life is good. We're all around pleased.

A flawed but fine entry level eReader with lots of bells and whistles...
So, I wanted a bare bones eEeader that I could use without connecting it to the internet or a particular service (like Kobo or Kindle). I already have a large collection of ePubs, more than I'll probably ever finish reading, so connecting to online stores is not a need for me.For me, the Pocketbook is perfect in that respect. Once you get past the obligatory initial setup, all you have to do is connect it to your PC, drop and drag your ePubs onto the eReader's hardriveand off to the races you go.It's light. Comfortable to hold. Easy to use.It *is* a little quirky though...It says *Basic* but there are a lot of settings that can be adjusted, and some defaults that were perplexing to me. Like the long presses on page turning that moves the page 10 pages forward or back, by default. It actually irked me. This can be turned off though, so, no harm no foul. The build quality is fine, but the buttons feel cheap and misaligned when holding it at certain angles. Also, for the price I would expect a little more RAM installed to make the device zippier when looking through your library. As is, it functions ok but flickers and stutters book cover images to keep up.Reading ePubs is good enough. And though the RAM speed impedes loading of PDFs, they're mostly readable too. I primarily got this for my old ePubs and Mobi files though. As is, I feel like the Basic is a good value at a lower price point. It is an international eReader though, so many of the extra services (like library access) might not be available to you if that's what you're seeking. For those of us who already have a large ePub collection, that's not a con. Lack of RAM is though, given how inexpensive RAM is nowadays. Also, the 8 gigs provided on the device are eaten up by the OS. And there a lot of eBooks already loaded on the HD of classic work that you'll probably want to delete.Like older Kindles, this device is fragile, (they aren't kidding). So people who mindlessly toss their stuff around or choose to give this to a kid with grubby hands, or to their pets to chew on, should stay far away. A protective slip case should be your next purchase. There are many on the Zon that are cheap and do just fine.I like this device. It works perfectly for my needs. I like that adding an Ebook from my PC is a straight forward affair, just drag and drop. It'll probably last a long time if you are gentle with your things. 🙏✌️

Cheap junk that breaks easily.
Bought this e-reader and a protective case (separately) directly from PocketBook, and it was great.Then..It fell literally about 12 inches of the corner of my bed and the screen broke, even with the 29$ so called 'protective' case. While I understand these things do need to be handled with care, but to break from a simple fall of a foot, all while clad in a protective case?! That's not reasonable. PocketBooks warrant page indicates that I'm not qualified for replacement, so I called a local repair person, they said it would cost 70$ to replace the screen, and that I should probably just buy a new one.Idk about PocketBooks other products, but this particular e-reader at least is absolute junk.Giving it 1 star, because while it lasted I actually enjoyed the product.

A great basic ereader
I had used a Kobo for several years and it finally failed. I then tried a Kindle and a Nook, neither was ideal for just reading book files. This unit seems ideal, no trying to hog the WIFI to contact home or push recommended books, just an easily setup reader with options of a nice touch screen or dedicated buttons for page control. Seems stable with a very clear screen and screen is subdivided into about 9 touch areas that can be set to your choice. If it lasts, I love it, too soon to tell but it appears well designed and quality construction.Works well with Calibre

This eReader SUCKS!
It's horrible! This is the 2nd eReader I bought from Amazon and they both SUCK! This one also glitches and won't allow me to download my Google Play books which is why I bought it in the first place. I'm sending it back in the next day or so if I can't download them

Impressed by this reader. Lighter than Kindler, you can actually turn off the screen light!!!
So far, I am impressed. It is very light. I don't even feel it in my coat pocket. It is not intrusive. You don't have to connect to buy books, no ads that want to sell books you don't read. Small amount of apps, so no distraction. Easy on the eyes.Did I say, you can turn the annoying LED light off! I already have desk and floor lamp, I don't need a light shining in my eyes making them dry. It has option to enlarge font.PDF have limited control but I have been moving to epub for sometime anyway. You have bookmarking, notes and highlighting. The only strange thing is, I don't know if I am turning it off. You still see the stuff about LUX 4 on the screen after you turn it off, it is same stuff right out of the box. I love it so far. I'll come back in a year to report how I feel about then.

fantastic little e-reader : )
i've always loved to read. i used to carry books with me to school and i do the same with work now, except things have become too heavy for my back and sometimes the small print is hard for me to read (i would switch to large print if the books weren't so big/heavy). this little device makes things much easier all around. i can have so many book on me at once without destroying my back lol, i can zoom in if i want to read without glasses on, and i can dim or increase the screen brightness without hurting my eyes since it's an e-ink screen. since i can't access the pocketbook store due to being in the united states, i just get e-pub versions of books i want to read, tweak the files a bit in calibre, and put them on a micro sd card that i insert into the device to increase my space. this is my first e-reader and i really do love it.
