This rubber is grey, does it not leave a grey smear? Does the paper come out as white as it would with a white putty rubber?

No it doesn't leave a grey mark and the paper will stay white. these rubbers are best if you knead the rubber between your fingers it then becomes pliable and feels a little bit tacky but don't worry it doesn't affect the paper, and what is good about these rubbers you can shape it to a point to remove small areas. If it does get dirty with graphite just keep kneading it and it disappears.

Does it work for graphite? cause i have one that works only for charcoal not graphite! where is it made?

| use mine for all grades of graphite pencils from 4H to 9B and find it works fine on all of them. They are made (according to their label) in Malaysia.

Are these good at removing pastel?

Chalk pastels yes! oil pastels I'm not too sure about tbh. After kneading then they do tend to be very soft. A little softer than I wanted but they do the job. I used mine with chalks and with pencils and even water colours. It's good there being 4 and the little cases comes in handy too.

A really great set of 4 kneadable erasers (in plastic storage boxes). They arrived promptly, and are Ideal for my sketching. Size in the advert said large but these 4 were standard size 4cm X 4cm X 1cm. But fine for my purposes.
