OUTSTANDING!!!!
I write this 3 years on from buying and my house is a tea loving toast home and this AMAZING toaster and it's partner kettle is beyond brilliant, I will NEVER EVER but any other make than this, so many kettles and toasters bought and exhausted put and in the recycling pile but these items are sturdy. Stylish, easy to clean big time, quiet and so easy to use, honestly I cannot recommend more highly!!!!!!

Best Toaster on the Market with just 1 flaw
Hands down this is the best toaster I've ever owned and I still own 2 other Dualit 4 slice toasters that are for commercial use. This toasts evenly and brilliantly. The only flaw is that they give only a 1 year guarantee and unlike my other toasters they are not repairable. Come on Dualit, back your product with a decent guarantee.

Cheaper alternative Dualit Toaster
Great toaster, can take wide/tall slices of bread. Well put together and is a lot cheaper than the classic Dualit toasters costing over £200.Mines came with chrome side panels matching the rest of the main body, there's a bit of grey plastic there aswell.Side panels can be bought in a variety of colours and easily swapped out to fit your colour scheme.Quite a large machine for only two slices but makes a style statement in your kitchen !Blue led whilst it's working, it has various other settings and things documented in the manual.I set it to three when it arrived and haven't looked back since.Always turn your toaster OFF - at the wall after using it.Works like a treat - looks rather cool and is a third of the price of a classic Dualit toaster. How much do you actually need to spend on a machine that just toasts two slices of bread and hopefully won't set your house on fire ?Well about £30 - £50 In my opinion, if you want something that's a bit better built, has more features and looks the part then have a look at this.

Love this toaster
Looks great and even better is that it toasts really well. Super easy to clean and to use. Has a defrost setting but never used it.

An excellent toaster.
Amazing toaster. Positive controls/knobs/buttons etc give a quality feel that you expect from a £100+ toaster!Quick to toast 4 slices perfectly evenly and to identical levels of toastyness which is ideal. Yes it takes a few attempts to setIt up precisely but this is the only toaster I have used that when each side is set to the same level.... they toast at the same level; which is how it should be for a top end toaster. Then there's the bagel function.... I'll be honest; I thought a waste of time... just stick them under the grill like any normal person has done for the last 20 years and get on with it. Then I though what the heck they designed it for a reason so why not use it as intended. Sooooo much quicker and no grill pan to wash up. Perfectly toasty one side, perfectly warm and doughy the other. The crumb tray is easy to remove and wash.Love the fact you can change the end panels to match in decor, we have changed ours from stainless to yellow. Also other items in the 'Architect' range can be purchased to match. We have also purchased the sandwich toaster cages to fit. They hold the bread and fillings snugly so they don't fall out, another well thought out feature.Ultimately I think it's a fantastic bit of kit that has the options to personalise. It does what it should do and it does it well. Yes it is expensive for a toaster but for the quality I have experienced in comparison to our old one (micromark for about £60 5yrs ago) is well worth it.

Very poor performance for price.
For all its bells and whistles this is a very poor toaster, inferior in performance to many costing a fraction of its price. I didn’t really need to add these photos as other reviewers got in first but they show the front and back of the same slice of medium thickness white bread ready to burn in parts with half and all the inside uncooked. I suggest part of the problem is it toasts much too fast and so superficially browns or burns the outside, or parts of it, whilst leaving the rest raw and “soggy”. The defrost and bagel options are simply a distraction as the automatic features are unreliable and the only way to get a half descent result is to ignore them and stand by while it cooks. And though I respect those whose taste buds differ from mine, I prefer my bread toasted right through and not just on the surface. It looks lovely and is pleasant to use, hence the two stars (now one, see update), although the crumb tray is located at the back so a nuisance to access and all four elements heat up even if only one slice is being toasted, which is the norm with me. But in the end as it is obviously not fit for purpose, I will be returning it.UPDATEWell, in view of the preponderance of 5 and 4 star reviews I thought it worth risking a replacement which has turned out no better. That also has now been returned.
