Emm .. you have to look after it ..I'd recommend giving it a jet wash and a squirt of WD40 at the end of the day.My guys do it in the morning.They last us about 4 months before they are knackered.We abuse them with very caustic fertilizer (you should see our vans .. they are like "Fred Flinstone's" with big holes in he floor from fertilizer.)A better machine is a Even Spread 2000p but it costs twice as much and we knacker them in a few months as well.We expect them to do about 200,000 square metres (50 acres) before the wheels come off. I hope this helps.The best spreader are the big Scott's ones with a stainless steel chassis and "edge guard" but not only are they expensive, they are quite big to get on and off a van all day, so they can do your back in.As the other commentators say ..putting this Chinese item together can be a bit difficult. We will stop using them this season and use the Even Spread machines form now on. We know they will wear out as well

. im now on utube to assemble can anyone tell me as most of the screws seems very longwhy do  the nuts stop when they reach the rubber inner on thenut

The "rubber" indicates a self-locking nut, that is, you do not need a second nut to lock against it. It is a wee bit stiff to those who have not used the before. Keep screwing down until it is tight and at the position indicated on the diagram. Hope that helps.

Does anyone what the optimum setting is for scotts evergreen complete/autumn lawn care? neither handy or scotts know.

Would this lawn spreader spread top soil or compost many thanks

If the topsoilo was dry it would probably do the job but think it would be easier by spade and rake - no not suitable for compost in my view.
