YI Action Gimbal stabilizer 4K, 4K+, and Lite Action Camera, Universal (98005)

The media could not be loaded. This is an amazing tool to have for action cameras. Don't really know why it took me forever to buy it. Just be extra careful when taking it on the road. I damaged my gimbal less than a week after I received, but it will soon be replaced. Awesome addition to have for your Yilite action camera or any other action camera of rougly the same size.

Only 3 stars for now. I know this unit is brand new to the market and future firmware updates may help my issue. If they do, I will come back and update my rating and review. The issue I have with this gimbal is that axes that are suppose to be locked will slowly rotate off axis when jogging with the gimbal. This is very annoying and requires the operator to constantly switch modes and use the joystick to bring the axis back to alignment. The alternative is to stop, power down and restart while holding the gimbal vertically. Not very practical.After using this gimbal with the YI 4K+ I am disappointed to find that the built in microphone on the side of the camera gets covered up by the side of the gimbal arm. It also picks up a ton of noise from the gimbal motors. Also it is almost like 2 different companies designed the two products since the bracket that holds the camera to the gimbal is directly above and covers up the top microphone hole in the camera. What were the engineers at YI thinking???UPDATE: 02/10/2018Yi support reached out to me and sent me the Action Gimbal software for updating and calibrating the firmware. They also sent me a new firmware file to load into the gimbal. This was before the official link to the software and firmware was listed on their website.I have not been able to test the new firmware yet but will update my review as soon as I get a chance to try it out.I am increasing my score to 4 stars at this time just because the Yi support has been proactive to help.

Good value for the money.

mine was faulty out of the box. Unfortunately for me, I did not figure this out until the day before a big BC ski trip and I ended up returning for credit which was done not problem, no questions asked. Despite repeated attempts to calibrate, it would just spin aggressively in a circle. The concept is good, and from the online images looks like it works well when its working but for me it was not meant to be.

This worked for a few weeks then one time I turned it one and it just shook from side to side uncontrollably. When it did work, it performed reasonably well. Waiting for a replacement unit from Yi. I hope I just had bad luck and this is not a design defect.

Buggy software but a little fiddling around plus 1 tech support email and it was working perfect.

Worked great for only a few times then started shaking and drifting with no fix. The Yi 4K+ camera itself is a huge fail DO NOT BUY EITHER of these products. Image quality is very poor and stabilization is only so so.

I love this thing! I've owned gopros, but To and their products are so much better and more affordable. Funny how that works.
