This shaving gel is the best. Not cheap, but you won't get a better shave (in my opinion).

Excellent gel, let down by cheap valve
The gel is excellent — enough said. However, Clarins should spend a few more pennies a can on a better quality valve. The existing valve makes using this premium product a very unpremium experience. It’s very difficult to dispense the correct amount of gel as the valve is sticky. You press the valve and nothing happens so you have to press the valve harder then too much gel is dispensed. This results in (expensive) waste of gel. Also trying to modulate this cheap valve is an unpleasant process. A pity.

Pricey but worth the splurge
I used many methods of shaving over the past few decades (foil shaver, rotary shaver, double edge, multi blade) but recently went back to double edge razors due to less irritation, razor burn and just plain economical. And I used all of the luxury English shaving creams that come in a jar. Those do well, but honestly I am starting to like the gel in a can better. Being African American with sensitive skin, some of those thick creams clog my pores and don’t do well to combat razor burn. I find that Clarins reduces razor burn and rinses cleanly. It’s pricey but I don’t mind because it works. Give this a try, you’ll be hooked. It smells great, like a man’s cologne and stays with you for some time through the day. And you only need a little squirt to do the job. I usually shave every day or every other day, using a Merkur Progress DE razor, Astra platinum blades, with razor set to 2.5. Two passes is good for a daily shave (with and across grain). I do three passes when I want to get closer - the third pass is against the grain.
